I picked up my wifes Nytro from the dealer yesterday after having the wire harness fixed. When I started it cold I noticed a lot of rattling noise coming from under the tunnel. It sounded like something in the exhaust was loose. After letting it warm up for awhile the noise went away. I'm thinking that either the donuts are worn or the clamps that hold them are loose. I changed the donuts on my Apex last Fall and I'm thinking I'll have to change them on my Nytro. How are they to change on the Nytro compared to the Apex?? Easier or harder?? Any good tips on how to do it?? I still have another year of warranty left on her sled and I'm sure the dealer would change them but honestly I hate when dealers work on my toys. When I work on my sleds I make sure everything is perfect and most dealers just slap sleds together and hope they don't come back. ;):D

My brothers sled is in for exhaust work right now. 2400 miles and Yamaha may be putting on a whole new exhaust on it. They are looking into it right now.............

not sure about apexes, but on nytro it was easy for me as my first time doing it, no need to remove headers or the muffler, remove your seat, tank, plate, remove 2 black rubber caps, torched the 2 bolts # 5 hex wrench, loosen while hot, then remove, then remove 2 other rubber caps further back on the muffler guard plate, remove bolts, remove clamps on manifolds, then move headers back, then remove manifolds then replace gaskets, put everything back together, some say they didnt need to remove manifolds, dont know how they did it without removing them though :rocks:

I had the same rattling in my Nytro since the begining of the season. I figured why lose riding time in the middle of winter, so I waited to towards the end to fix the problem. Your correct about taking off the seat and removing the fuel tank to expose the heat shield. Once you remove the heat shield you'll see what the problem is right away. There are 3 clamps that hold your exhust to your headed pipes. I had 2 out of 3 that were really loose and turned with just the slightest touch. I could see that they were loose for some time, and worn right through the heat fabric that was attached to the heat shield. So basicly the clamps were viberating on the metal heat shield causing the rattling sound.

Heres what I did for my fix. Just took the clamps off and ground down the spacers. It allowed the clamp to fit more tightly around the pipes.
