Changing the hyfax today... was going to drop the track and do some other stuff to the sled but decided to wait till next season for that. Anyone had any luck cutting a window and removing the slides that way? If so, what are the steps?

The slides will fit through the windows. I changed two sets last week. They just need some coaxing. Once there about an inch through the window use reverse to peel them off the rails. Then lube the new slides and put them on.

What he said....when you get the slide to the window use a flat screwdriver to pry it out the window.

Drop the skid. The time you take monkeying around with the getting the Hyfax through the windows and off the rails will be equal to or more than just dropping the skid and working off a bench.

this is also a wise thing to do just to get a real good look at your suspention and all the workings that soak up the bumps for you, you never know what can show up till you check.

hey guys
just got an 09 xtx and need to replace hyfax, any tips on doing it? do i need to drop suspension? if so, how hard is that?

do a search and I think you'll find a thread with a video that shows how to replace hyfax using reverse. I watched it a while back and it made it look like a pretty simple procedure.

thats a great way to do it, works, just be light on the throttle...
you dont have to take out the skid but taking it out is easy, loosen up the rear axle then 4 bolts and a little bit of muscle...

Drop the skid if you have time, like now in the off season. Its a good chance to check everything out and grease it up. It won't take long to drop but a extra set of hands putting it back in will make it easier. Good luck brother

thanks guys, i'm gonna drop it, i've dropped skids on my ski doo rev's many times, just never on a yami, i'm guessing it similar

Actually the Nytro mounts up just like a Rev so you will be in familiar territory.

replaced the hyfax today, rained all day here, nothing else to do. did the reverse method in the video without dropping the skid, wasn't too bad. didn't have an air chisel, just used a screw driver and hammer. took about hour to get them both done
