I brought home a still new leftover 2014 LTX SE about a week ago. I've read several threads on the ECU's needing or some needing updates. I really got a great deal on the sled, in which the dealer could've back out on with loss of rebates but they stuck to their word. During the deal I didn't ask many questions on weather or not any re-flashes had been done. I didn't want to be a pain and have them change their mind on the deal. So my question is just ride and see how it runs or should I take it in to see if an update is needed? I ordered a MBRP trail can and Ulmer clutch kit already this week. Pipe and kit will be here tomorrow. Thanks in advance! Let it snow soon!!!!

I would ride it to see if you have issues getting it to start when it's warm. If you do have warm starting issues you can then make the decision whether or not to get a reflash. Personally I wouldn't do it because the reflash could potentially lead to starter issues. It did on mine. It's easier to live with the hot start issue than it is to start junking starters. Or you could go to EVO for their $500 reflash. It's money well spent.

I agree if no issues leave it. You will quickly know whether you need it or not. The flash was not a recall so it's voluntary. The Reverse Detent is one update you should check for.
Can be seen without removing anything but side panel. Look for the spring and block under the reverse actuator.

There was also a recall for the fuel line on the 14's. They just need to check it and make sure it's not too short and in danger of coming apart.

Another good practice is to keep cranking on the key until the motor is running for sure. Than you don't ever have to worry about kick back.

Something I also do is keep the battery fully charged with a trickle charger. That way the starter always has the most juice possible to avoid kickbacks.
