Its all about moneyThumper1 said:I would like to know why Yamaha supplied the motor and didn't supply the ecu?

It's not just about money. The Viper was supposed to have a Yamaha wire harness and ecu but their wasn't time to make the changes on the production line for fall delivery.
When two companies make one sled its not that easy and their are allot of logistics involved. Allot have expressed disappointment on Yamaha getting updates or info out but it is the first year and with a partnership like this it will take some time to get the logistics worked out.
All Yamaha is doing is supplying the power train and cat is doing the rest. Their are no Yamaha employees at the cat plant. Any problems that Yamaha learns of from dealers goes to Yamaha in WI then to Cat in MN. Any updates or new info from Cat on MN can not go to Yamaha dealers direct because of the dealer network and because its two different companies. It has to go from Cat to Yamaha in Wi and then to the dealer. It sucks but that's whats causing the delays.
The partnership is working out better than expected for both so far even with the hiccups. The release of the 2015 Mountain sleds is just the tip of the iceberg.

It's hard to believe they didn't notice this last year when testing. The Nytro hands down starts better and was better on gas, and no need to have an O2 sensor. to bad yamaha let cat do the fuel set up on the viper!

Sno tech mag said all ecu's are getting refreshed for 2015.
I'm sure there will be an ECU flash update for the 14's, but in typical Cat fashion, I would not plan on seeing it before late summer or early fall.
