So i got my XTX this past december, so far have put 1200km on er. I smoked my first belt early, which was ok because i now have full trust in my park brake.
So today me and a buddy went on a quick 75km tour which was 60% nice groomed trail, with a couple good WOT stretches, and 40% off-trail in super nice powder. While we were rolling around in the powder i thought i could smell some hot belt, and wasn't sure if it was me or my buddy, upon further review, t'was I. Pulled the panel, belt looked new still, no wear marks, no belt dust anywhere, touched the clutch and HOLY, it was hot hot, figured i couldn't do anything about it in a forest so i drove as if there was nothing wrong, playing still. Smell came back once or twice, and seemed to only be after pro-longed periods playing in the soft stuff. I have her thawing in the garage now, any particulars i should be looking for? Or assume something got wet? Thanks!

Is it your Primary or secondary that was hot??

The secondary for sure, and can't tell you 100% if the primary was, because i didn't touch it. However we just sat there for a bit checking stuff out waiting for it cool down, and have a snack, when i grabbed a small piece of ice to gauge the heat level and both clutches were hot. But definitely didn't touch the primary.

Also i just went out to the garage to pull the belt off to have a good look, and belt looks fine. Looks like there is a few spots on each clutch surface where the belt may have been slipping at some point. Never heard any squealing at the time of incident either.

make sure there isn't anywhere the snow can enter the clutch area as this would make your belt slip and cause heat.

A quick tighten up on the secondary spring will increase belt pressure and less slip=less heat.
