was wondering if the mpi kit includes any clutch parts. I am still waiting on the kit to arrive from yamaha but can't find any info on if it includes different weights or springs for the clutches. Is there anything included ?

As far as I know, there won't be included clutch parts. Just recommendations as to what you'll need. But in an email to my dealer, they state that they're testing clutch setups in MI right now..

I thought so. When I asked at the dealership I got a couple yes and a few no's. And one check the mpi
Site that's all right they that means I get to mess with it

I was looking at the ulmerracing kit but I'm in Canada and actually a short drive from hurricane. Going to shoot over there some time soon. Sled is still at the dealership waiting for turbo to come in and no snow on the ground. so I have time

Sent my clutches to Hurricane this week (actually 2 sets for two sleds) for Dave's set up which includes machining. You should call him and speak with him in detail about it. I see UR on a XTX while I have the RTX, so will be some changes. I almost did the MPI and Ulmer kit, but Dave had all the answers including clutching as a package, so decided to go with his complete set up.

I am a do my own clutching kinda guy... Would be nice to have a basic starting point for the trail turbo sleds though- weight grams, and helix degrees (winter is too short to wrench all the time). I know weight profile plays a big part of it but a general gram range would save a ton of time, especially when factory profiles are being used that have the pound in rivets. I will probably just start heavy and work my way back down to where it needs to be.

I will post my setup as I go to help others.

I am going to start with Drag-n-Fly weights just to try something different, they worked great in the Nytros and a 49/43 Helix.

Yamaha is testing the recommended clutch set ups now in the UP. That's supposedly what we are waiting on..

If you are using the 49/43 helix I'd say a decent starting point will be around 70 grams. Like u said, profile plays a big role, but I'm a hair over 70 grams right now with my stage 1 kit set at 4.5 pounds and it's pulling good rpm, I'm using a different helix tho.

hurricane I plan on bringing my clutches in to you. After doing a search and seing that you are pretty close to me seems like the best option. Is it a simple job to do or will I be leaving them there?

Was also wondering about the machining. Is this to run the nytro belt? I have 3 or 4 of them in the garage all brand new and just sold my nytro so if I can use them on the viper that's even better
