Hi all,
I had to replace my stator in the beginning of the season and now my sled will go good for 1h but later on (seems to be when it is heated up..) it will stall and give me code 12..
I can just crank the code goes.away and my sled starts, but it would stall again.. i then played with the 3 stator wires and the wires from the pickup coil..then i was able to get home..
What do you guys think os my stator going bad again or the pickup coil?
I had bought the stator.from rmstator..

Thanks allot!!
Patrice

Have you checked the crankshaft position sensor and its wiring, which this code is saying? Could be bad, which is possible when it gets hot.

I just checked the voltage where you can boost-start and voltage spikes down to 3-5volts.. is this normal? Also the wires coming from the stator are getting a bit hot.. not sure if this can affect..
Thanks again!!

Is the crankshaft position sensor on the same case as the stator? Is it also called pickup coil? I have checked the wiring and applied dieelectric grease.. wouldnt mind going back in there but riding season is almost over and i wanna ride as long as i can
Thanks

The battery shouldn't go that low, even while cranking. The stator might be getting overworked trying to charge a dead or shorted battery. You should grab a copy of the service manual in the FAQ for details about the sensor.

rode it today.. its allot less worse when its cold but when the machine warms up it starts bucking more and more until it stalls with code 12

Battery is a brand new odyssey battery.. i could try the yuasa i had in it.. then i would know..

Sounds like a bad crankshaft position sensor to me. Probably shorts out internally as it gets warm and expands.

Did you finally fix your problem? I also replaced mine last year with rmstator and if you have problems it is because the pickup coil sensor or also called crankshaft position sensor is a little further away from magnet when it's installed. You need to grind or open the install bracket holes in order to move it closer and problem solved. I learned this the hard way! I got it approx 1-2mm closer and it's been fine for over 3000km.
