So I have picked up an 2008 MP with code 33. I have read quite a bit and have seen some solutions. All of these solutions I have tried, no luck. Code 33 is a open circuit in #1 Ignition Coil. I have switched coil 1 to coil 2 position and engine still runs on cylinder 2, and only cylinder 2, as it did before. I have swiched plugs from 1 to 2, and still same result. Code 33 did not change to 34(Open circuit #2 ign coil) which would indicate the coil was the issue. I have 12V at the red/w wire on #1 coil, and same on orange wire. Anyone see anything here that I am missing? In the wiring diagram, red/w wire comes from battery with 12v, and orange comes from ECU also with 12v. The #2 cylinder has red/w wire and a Grey/red(from ecu) wire both with 12 volts.
Looking for some help from people who have had this issue.

You'll have to trace all the wires for continuity from end to end. Hopefully it's not something with the ECU itself. Check inside the connector for corrosion.

It may not be the answer to your problem, but check out the pins in the connectors on the wiring harness. When my 2009 Phazer GT started acting up and throwing a code 33 the dealer who regularly services my sleds found that there was a loose pin, or pins, in a connector plug on the wiring harness. He replaced the pin, or pins, from an old harness he had, and it has worked perfectly ever since.

And when you have it out check for spark. Till you see spark keep looking for a open. It should be a nice bright blueish/white spark not orangeish. I suspect the connector right at the coil.
