I found all of my coils to be arching on my 04 Warrior. I took them apart and cleaned them with brake cleaner and put dielectric grease on them and they still arch and could not get them to stop even by putting more and more grease on them. I noticed the arching was up high on the coil where the metal sleeve is located which I also put grease on. I took off the sleeves on all 4 coils and no arching! The sleeves actually make contact inside the head which I believe is the reason for this. I know the sleeves are probably heat shields, but do I need to have them installed?
Can you post a picture what sleeve are you refferring too.

I would try to run them like that and keep checking on them. I am thinking you will be fine.

Ya, take them off and throw them in the trash... That is the problem with the coils. Take them off and put the grease all around the rubber. I did that to my Warrior when I had it with no problems at all. A lot of RX-1 guys do this to stop arcing...

I couldnt get it to stop on my 03 using the above method. I replaced them with 05 coils and it stopped it completely.

There was an update for 03 models so maybe that was the reason why they still arched but 04 and 05 coils are the same.
