I spend a lot of time riding with someone behind me too. Just got my sled, and I KNOW there's going to be trouble going into corners behind me knowing the guys I run with. I wonder about some type of momentum sensing switch that could be wired into the brake light circuit. Something similar to the circuit that might be found in a trailer brake controler? Something that will sense the sled slowing down that would then hit the brake lights for you? Anyone seen anything like that or somethnig similar?
brake light sensor
would any one be interested in seeing a sensor that I made for my brake light? W/out giving all the details, it simply monitors the engine speed and when the wright combination occurs it sends a signal to the brake light, flashing it three times. My friends & I have found the "feed back" from the blinking light to be invaluable, almost addictive, because now the person behind the leader can get a better idea of what's happening up ahead.

deweysgt,
I would like to see it.
Then I wouldn't have to tap the brake. It's safer too!
What a great idea!

dewysgt, Type that mod up and get it to Mr. Sled. Could be the tech tip of the DECADE !! I believe this could be the slickest thing I have seen yet for a safety item.

deweysgt,
Wow!
Nice job!
I don't know how it works, but I want it!!!
Concur with Viper_Dave, that feature would be a "hot item" to share with everyone!
Thanks for sharing!

Wow, I never thought any one else would have an interest in this topic. Can you explain what you mean by "writing it up" and send to MrSled?

Mr. Sled takes stuff like this for the Tech section. LAst year he also ran a contest for tech tip of the year. This would be a GREAT addition to that section.

Might be a little simpler to just post it here. Those of us that are interested could use the info. at that point, ask questions if necessary. I'd like to see how it works.
I'm sure Mr. Sled would see it too, and do what he likes with the info.

Duane,
Sorry I wasn't following this thread but I understand 100% now. Very Very cool idea. If you could refine something and maybe do an install on this, it would be a great addition to our tech pages and enter you in the contest that will be starting up again in Dec....
I was so confused by the email...LOL

I've rode behind other RX-1's and Apex's. No problems for Me. I don't like riding on bumper in front of Me. I guess if your riding aggressive and everyone is stacked up going into corners its a good idea. Probably a good idea for the guys that are "bringing the Mail" on the trail.

I have rode behind others too but I cant see how this would hurt anything basically it is warning of someone backing off the throttle and is slowing down. I think it is a great idea.
