Looking into buying this 05 RX1 thats been sitting since last January 06'. Cleaned carbs ect... (Tuned up) and it seems to run real good (only 1000 miles on the machine) but we did a compression test
180,185,170,170. Could it be this thing just needs to be run out on the trail and really warmed up from sitting that long?

The motor has to be warm and the throttle has to be open to get a accurate check..

Not sure how different it is with an '05, but in my '03 RX-1 service manual, it states:
Standard Compression Pressure: 1,450 kPa (14.5kg/cm2, 206 psi) at 400 r/min

The sled is fine, the gauge is wrong and/or the test was performed incorrectly.

In addition to WOT throttle and warm motor you have to take off the air filter and lift the the throttle slides manually to wide open, this way your compression test will read higher (correct)

low end of the limet is 179 - 230 is the high end with 206 being the norm . and yes you should lift the slide,s and open the throtale. other wise you will read a lower number.
