- 2007 Attak - LOVE my sled!!!
Hey Guys!
Those of you that read my "Trip to Gran Marais" thread know about the friend of mine(Nate) who's Doo went BOOM (again) on the ride.
Part of why we never made it to Gran Marais... lol
http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php? ... highlight=
Lent him my Attak to ride for the rest of the week as they came from NY to ride in the UP of MI.
Like they said about Mikey on the cereal commercial, "He Likes It!" lol
He re-built the Doo & sold it after break-in.
Now he is looking for a Nytro.
'09 or newer
Extended Warranty & any extras are a definite plus.
He would like to get one now & be able to get it ready for next winter.
If you are thinking of possibly upgrading this year, would be a good chance for you!
PM me with info phone# etc.
Rock
PS His Bro bought an Attak also!
Maybe next year we will MAKE IT to Gran Marais...

My brother is a certified BRP mechanic. The engines last approximately 140 to 160 hours. Luckily they are easy to remove and cheap to rebuild (compared to a 4 stroke). I'd almost rather do an engine every 2nd season than be constantly wrenching on a machine (speaking from my own experience here). I spend 8-10 hours a week tightening/straightening/mending/welding/greasing/checking my Phazer. Its a blast to ride but what a PITA. I actually rode 2 back to back days without repairing it, although I did blow a rear shock and bent the front subframe slightly (I have 8 hours set aside today for repairs, haha). Fit and finish is awesome though and the engine should last awhile. I will probably keep the Phazer for 1 more season (because I have a bambino on the way) but after that its Cat or Doo all the way, unless Yamaha pulls something major out of its hat. These machines just don't have what it takes for off-trail abuse unless you are willing to spend some serious coin and time (and gym time) to make them what they should be. On groomed trail (which is probably 80% of the market) they can't be beat but I'll say it again and again, if you are into out of bounds riding Yamahas are just too heavy and underpowered (not to mention the odd handling characteristics) to be competitive with 2 strokes. I love my Yamaha and would love to stay with this brand but for the riding that I do, there is no machine in the lineup that can deliver.

LOL, I should load up my GPS tracks. If there's anything my nytro does good it's play off-trail.Ruckus said:My brother is a certified BRP mechanic. The engines last approximately 140 to 160 hours. 8-10 hours of wrenching?? You gotta be kidding me...Sounds to me like if he squeezed his machine he would get lemonade!!! It's not mentioned if it was bought 2nd hand or new but sounds to me like it was used.. I'd flog it. My XTX loves the pow and off trail it's a totally different ride and for the better. After 2200 kms I've probably spent 8 hours total of wrenching that's on hyfax and spacer in the gear case (with beers incl) and all my little mods in my signature.NFLD-Nytro said:LOL, I should load up my GPS tracks.
