Just wondering if anyone has converted to an ATV style throttle? Is it more comfortable than the regular snowmobile style throttle? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Close to the same thing..maybe if ya did a twist throttle ! Now that would be cool! Not sure how the heated element would work/holdup also with freezing temps and miles with wind and sometimes snow spray .
I believe there is a company that makes heated grips for road bikes.
Dirtbikes i have work fine in the cold but i never go hundreds of miles like a sled.maybe 10mi...

Have you ever ridden an ATV and had your thumb get sore? ATV style isn't any better. I tried one on my Nytro and hated it.
Had a NCI Thumb Drive on my Attak. Loved it.
Excellent hand position. You can get more hand on the bar for better control and heat from the grip. Very comfortable.
The down side is that it is made from aluminum which acts like a large heat sink so on the cold days your thunb can get cold.

I have a NCI Thumb Drive on my Attak right now - Awesome. I use to have to where a brace on my hand to keep from getting a very sore thumb after riding. No need for a brace now and no more problems. The NCI allows you to push the throttle with your thumb or the base of your hand. Fairly easy install as I remember.
No cold thumb for me, hooks right into the thumb warmer.

The NCI throttle works great. The thread below also has my install write-up with photos.

I have one on my VL and like it - seems that not so much pressure is required on the throttle. It is also adjustable for smaller hands.

Is it a reach if you stand up a lot?

Is Steve at NCI still making Thumb Drives?

Not as cool as it sounds. Met a guy up north that tried it after he heard us talking about it. A bike leans with you when you turn where a atv or sled doesn't. End result was that it's really hard to give throttle when turning right and hard not to when turning left. He said his first turn left with it he ended up in the trees.

I know this thread is OLD, but I was wondering if anyone has done an ATV thumb throttle on a snowmobile? I have an 08 phazer. I am an ATV rider mostly and I absolutely hat the throttle on a snowmobile....I know some of you may love the snowmobile throttle but I don't lol. I did see where NCI was making the thumbdrive drive but I don't think they are making it anymore?? Does anyone have one laying around they would sell me. Do the phazers have any type of sensors in the thumb throttle housing that I would need to deal with?
