Copper Exhaust Donuts

I received mine today. Now I just need sdr's exhaust system to try them out. When installing the donuts do I need to coat them in a copper antiseize or just put them in dry. I have industrial antiseize used in refineries that's made for high temp and copper.

I can't see that it would hurt. Dok C used some ultra copper on his rig, I put the Nytro and the Vector together without any extra coatings. From earlier in the thread you can see the trouble I had trying to get the bronze version off the Vector so maybe even just a light coat on the inside diameter of the donut to help with possible future removal.

Glad to see them showing up at some doors. Some of you guys in the US may take 1-2 weeks from the 27th.

Got mine yesterday and promptly installed 'em. Love the food saver packaging!

Install went smooth. I did remove my flex pipes to do the install because the fit is nice and snug and I needed to have them on the bench to get them seated onto the flex pipes. No biggie though, the flex pipes to engine gasket is reusable. There is no slop in the fit and these babies should not leak at all.

Thanks again for the opportunity to participate in the pre-order and the savings associated with it.

I need a paper cutter to cut all those 'bags' and backer boards, using scissors was a large pain. LOL!

Glad you like.

was also wondering if there are any hints on how to get manifold pipes or header pipe spread apart easy enuff to fit these in or do i need to remove
manifold pipes to install them. it looks like there is enuff room if just push manifold back but wondering how to get leverage to do so without being in way of putting new gaskets in.

With the 2 bolts removed that secure the y-pipes to the tunnel bracket and the exhaust slid aft as far as possible, there is enough room to slide the doughnuts onto the flex pipes. However, I found that I needed to remove the flex pipes in order to apply enough pressure to slide them on and get them seated on the flex pipes. The fit was nice and snug. Its really not a big deal. The flex pipes come off in a snap and their gasket is reuseable. Put 'em back on and torque them to 18 lb*ft and the clamps get 14 lb*ft. Just be careful not to drop any of the header pipe bolts down into the black hole between the backside of the engine and the heat exchanger! Hard to retrieve crap that falls down there.

Hey crew when is your next batch? I put a notify me alert on your website today. I needed a set but dropped the ball and got busy and forgot to preorder. Thanks

Really? How many others have had similar problems? Is it possible there was some old donut/carbon build up on there? Just curious and wondering if I should tweak the ID a little.

Kinger: The next order is supposed to ship to Canada around the 20th with that usually taking 4-5 days. You'll get the email from Sledtoyz when I update the stock number. ;)!

so are u saying that u should not have to remove the flex pipe?

I've only done one nytro and two Vectors myself and have not had to remove the flex pipes. All I've ever done is remove the four muffler bolts and two pipe hanger bolts and pulled it back, which has left enough room to slide them on the pipes.

That being said, the Apex may require them to be removed, or a vector/nytro with manufacturing variances (the hanger bracket could be welded in a little different spot etc.) may need them removed as well.

Won't know till you get in there.

On an Apex there is enough room to position the copper donuts onto the flex pipes with only the muffler and headers unbloted and slid aft. I could get the donuts started onto the flex pips but I didn't have enough leverage in my finger tips to slide them on and get them seated because of the close fit of the donut onto the flex pipe. My flexpipes were clean, no build-or anything.

I can't stress enough that the install is a snap even if you have to remove the flex pipes to seat the donuts. I get the impression that some folks are deathly afraid of removing the flexpipes in order to complete an install. Its not neurosurgery or anything. ;)!

Copper donuts are the real deal for solving the evaporating donut issue in our Yammi sleds once nd for all. Why wouldn't Yamaha just have installed real copper donuts stock from the factory? Cost saving issue probably, geez, kind of a ridiculous place to cut costs, if u ask me. Great product, Chief!
