There are a bunch of complete packages from reputable sellers on E-Bay for the Mohawks; depending upon color and choice of carbide, you are in the $400 +/- range for the package. I don't think you could go wrong with either the Curves or the Mohawks; I went with Mohawks and bought a set for my Grandson's Phazer XTX as well. We have been so impressed with them on both sleds that I am getting another set for my other Phazer! I don't know whether the "Leading Edge" that Curves sells to prevent darting is really necessary for their ski, but I shimmed the Mohawks, and they do not dart at all!

Yes I have Curves. But I also feel I would still go with Curve if I were in the market for skis and not because I know how they are. My main reason is the way the Mohawks mount. I am not impressed with the idea of the carbides holding the skis on the sled. God forbid if you ever had some sort of carbide failure you could still ride with Curves. Not so much with Mohawks. Unless a roll of duct tape will hold long enough to get you back

I would be curious if there is anyone out there that has actually had the "carbide failure" that you suggest as a possibility? I read a forum, prior to buying the Mohawks, where someone expressed that fear, but I have not been able to find anyone who has actually had it happen, or would admit to it. My guess is that realistically, in order to fail, your bars would have to be worn down past the carbides, and you would notice that there was a problem long before there was the type of catastrophic failure you suggest.Yes I have Curves. I think with how long the powder pros have been out and they use the same mount as the mohawks, and i have never herd of a failure with the powder pros. i do not think that should be a reason to worry or not to buy the mohawks but to each there own i guess. my mohawks are awesome with the little time i have had them for!

Yes, it would be a really rare possibility. More so would be the risk of the skis becoming loose. Seeing loose carbides is a lot more common then them breaking and falling off or something and if your carbides loosen up at all then there is not just the worry of them wearing the holes in the ski there is the worry of those holes being the main support of the ski. This could also apply to anyone that has had their carbide grabbed by a train rail. Yes I may be over thinking this, but some weird stuff happens out on the trails. Either way it looks like both brands perform well.
The tracks and if you just plain wear the carbides off! Happened to daughter not much more than the studs left. Sadly I went with the 6.9 Pilots again after tracks mishap. Just because I have two sleds with same skis and carbides and that saved the day last year. I also rotate Carbides! I know I am cheap and really have nothing but good to say about Curves but the 6.9's work too. Not as well but they work fine. Last set I promise. Starting to get scarce anyway.

Whatever you do don't use pilots with carbides on the inside and outside with ski savers on both. When I had my Apex I was riding w/that setup and got a branch lodged in the center channel that was a good 3ft long. No big deal to stop and remove, but I also got a rock stuck in there from a section of trail that had a lot of loose railroad sized rocks on it. We tried everything we had to try and pry it out. Ended up riding it a cpl more miles till we got to a lake where an ice fisherman lent us a tire iron to get it out.
You know if I wouldnt have had that outside carbide my a-arm wouldnt have gotten ripped off. Whatever that carbide hit stopped the sled instantly bending the carbide to almost 90 deg and it left a mark right where carbide starts that looked like a chisel hit. Starting to regret the 6.9 purchase. With one carbide in middle it would have just been plastic scraped off the ski. Good point AXR. I knew I didnt belong on that grade though.

Curves on my SR VIPER R-TX last two seasons. What a major improvement over stock... NO darting...NO MORE PUSH!!! What a confidence boost in the trees. Nick has been outstanding to work with. I bought a different color set for this year and my riding buddies have been using my old ones to "DEMO" the Curve ski package, to see what all the hype is about. It's one thing to ride someone else's sled with Curve skis, but when they can bolt them on their own sled they can really tell the difference. It only takes one ride and then their only question is which COLOR to order!!
...not sure how my old skis feel about being passed around by each of the guys... I'm sure they will need therapy...

I ran the 6 inch curve round last year also with no studs in track. Studded this year, will probably need something else if we ever get snow

I trail ride in Upstate NY with turbo, 129" RTX, 1.25", 180 studs and I have used 4" round bar last two seasons with great success!!! The Curve ski design does not need much carbide. I will be installing a 1.75" BackCountry track as soon as the big brown truck backs into my driveway. I may find out that I need 6" then, but the 129" skid doesn't need much.
