,i drained my battery twice this summer by leaving the key on,i charged it fully both times but it seemed like it was not keeping its charge, today it let me stranded,i was in the bush at our moose hunt camp,i shut the bike off to take a break and have lunch,15 min later,no starting,it was ticking like a dead battery,no pull cord so i walked 5 miles back to my truck,im writing this just to find out if there's a way to start it without a battery, what kind of back up would work

did you check charging circuit? why don't you buy a new batt?
get one of those jump start packs bring that with you.

i know i have to get a new battery, but i thought maybe its the charging system that's not working right, those bikes need 12 volt steady cuz of the efi,if battery is weak, the engine light comes on and if you stop,it wont idle,it will just quit, got a code 46 today wich is a power supply problem

The bike will turn over the engine in high range if you tow it. Only works if you have someone to pull you or a steep hill to go down. The one way clutch that makes the engine braking work so well will also spin the engine over. Don't know what would happen if the battery is really dead though, you need enough power to run the fuel pump and EFI.

well,my stator is shot, common problem on some 07's,dealer told me 99%sure yamaha's gonna cover it,even the battery might be covered,i think its good that they stand behind their products like this
