Tonight coming home after a 255 mile run a deer decides to make the last ride of the season memorable by running into my sled !!! I thought it was coming over the cab on top of me but some how the cab deflected him and he went over my right shoulder.I heard the thump but can't see any damage only hair down the whole right side of the sled.My chums said I upset him and he jumped to his feet and run off.I guess that makes the Apex the winner!!! ;)!

Maybe you should be deer hunter instead... lol

Glad your alright... how well did the sled take it? Just plastics?

I hit a yearling with my apex and killed the deer. It did not hurt me or the sled. I was racing another guy when it came out. I was pretty lucky!

Checked the sled over today and other than hair under the sticker on the side panel and exhaust side cover there is no damage.A arms look fine, they must have flipped him and saved my hide.I was set for the impact because it seemed like it happened in slow motion.I believe luck was on my side for sure!!! Maybe I should go buy a LOTTERY TICKET I might be on a streak!!! :-o

You are lucky.

I am the definition of unlucky, I've hit 2 deer with my Apex. Yamaha's are nice, but if you clip a deer square like I did, the plastics do not survive.

I was looking back making sure my buddy didn't launch himself into the woods when going over a washed out section of grade and turned my head back in time to see the deer hit my front bumper, roll up the sled and slam into my chest at 60-65 mph. This all happened while I grabbed a handful of brake causing the back of the sled to slide out and grab the trail - pitching me and the deer forward while the sled flipped side over side and end over end 3-4 times. Ended up trackside down facing the wrong way with a busted pod, busted hood, busted airbox, and side panel. Cost about $600 to get it back to respectable shape. When I came to my senses, the deer was gone.

Second time I was again on a railroad grade, only going 35-40 mph and I spooked a deer that was bedded down along the grade, it bolted out in front of me. I learned my lesson from getting pitched the first time, so I put my head down and pumped the brakes as fast as I could. I think the deer tried to jump me but landed on the left side of my sled, cracking the left side plastic, hood, pod, and airbox again. Some part of the deer hit me in the crown of the helmet - I assume its' spine - because I carried the deer for about 30 feet before it slid off the right side into the ditch. I went back and checked out the carnage and the deer was laying there paralyzed. It could only lift it's neck. Score one for the good guys.

Interesting side info - my windshield survived each encounter.
