I have read several threads on hyfax wear, but have not read about anyone haveing problems with hyfax wear just before rail tipup. From rubber bump stop to idler wheel is down to 1/8 inch in 90 miles and track is way loose. I'd say 1.5 innchs of sag when lifted up. Came this way from dealer. Just bought this sled a week ago.
Any advice.

I'll tell you what I saw. Got mine this year, dealer had it set like yours ( mine is a 08 RTX leftover). When sled was lifted, the track sagged about 1.5". Your supposed to set the tension by having ( I think ) 20 lbs. hang from the center of the track and measure the distance.
Anyway, so I say "WTF" and set the tension so, when I put soem force on the center of the track, by hand, it hangs down @1".
Now, to get to your point, After my first 100 miles, my hyfax was worn down about half at the curve. Where you are saying. But, now I have jsut under 500 miles and the hyfax wear hasn't move much at all at that point. The new spot seems to be about 6" before the rear wheel. Which is where people usually put more wheels on.
So, from all this jibber jabber, I would say let it go, jsut keep an eye on it. Mine pretty much stopped wearing at that point after the first 100. From what I have read here, most people notice it wears a LOT at first then seems to really slow down how it wears.

Get used to it... from what I have seen most all... ok not all, are experiencing some sort of major hyfax wear. Try pulling the strap up one or two holes and I think that will even your wear out a bit... but you will still prob be changing sliders every 1000 miles or so. I will be writing up a post in the next week with complete part numbers in a list and prices and pics of a wheel upgrade. I'm just going to put everything together in one post... it took quite a bit of research through different posts and many trips to pic up parts I didn't know I needed. Good luck!

MORE WHEELS!
I swear, the guy I ride with, has a 2010 Poo and that thing has to have like 10 wheels just on the bottom part of the skid.
Be interested to see your post Ray.

hyfax wear
I have 530 miles on my 2010 xtx. Checked hyfax wear tonight. In the area in question I'm measuring 16.5mm / minimum is 10.5mm . All riding done in good to exel. snow cond. I'll bring my new set with me for next ride , prob. another 500 miles and keep my eye on them.

I run my tracks tight and seem to have less issue. Tighter gives better top end anyway. When I ran really loose it would wear just where you say. Still does, just not as fast.

A stiffer center shock setting can also contribute to higher slider wear near the front.

Here is a question. I am assuming if you pull up the center strap, y ou will need to readjust the track tension?

The wear that I have is near the back just before the rails tip up.

Run your track tighter so there is less slack between the two wheels. This will reduce the wear at that spot but increase it up front unless you have added more wheels.

Do you have a XTX? Not sure where you mean if you don't.

If the rails tip up in the back chances are its an xtx... or modded ext''d rails.... or a broken shorty... haha ;-)

read mach9's post and added 6 wheels so far. also think the added cross shaft at back helps the 121 mark/tip up, do its job for handlingHelrazr said:The wear that I have is near the back just before the rails tip up.
