Auto paint shop, should be. I saw it on new cars for awhile in areas on lower body panels that could be subject to stone chips.

Also i think you are right on that the tunnel is not powder coated the way so many snomo parts are. That requires heat, which could warp the tunnel and change the strength of the thin aluminum.

Kevin I am glad a lot of people like the black tunnel. Yamaha did get it right in giving customers what they want.
 

I thought I would try to bring this back. I think the black will wear out around your feet, like on all my other sleds, and look bad!. If we can get Yamaha to leave it metal, it will save me, and others from having to stip it!

I saw it in person twice and it looks sweet! I suggest putting some type of pad where your feet will spend most of the time. I did this on my Warrior and it worked great. Yamaha sold them, I think they were called running board pads or something like that.
 
Painted my frame and front suspension all black, i like the result, (RX-1 ER `04 RED)
