Does anybody have instructions for running the intake through the hood for MPI trail kit?
I have the MPI trail kit on my 2016 viper I want to put the intake outside through the hood Does anybody have any pictures or instructions I want to do it tonight. I know it can fit through that black vent . But I was wondering if the kit came with two different lengths pipes ?can the one that's on there will that be long enough to stick through. And do I need to cut my hood? Is there a template or anything. Any help would be great

- Its a secret
I'm in the same boat....dealer installed the trail kit so mines under the hood as well. From what I understand the kit should have came with both a short and long aluminum tube deciding on which application (under hood or through). I ordered the long pipe (7") right from MPI's website but couldn't find any instructions for either cutting the vent or removing it (but haven't searched very hard yet).

You need to cut the vent, then pass the longer piping right through it.. Once all is adjusted to your liking and your hood fits nice a good, tight everything up and put your filter on.

So there's no need to notch hood? It will fit thru the vent ?You need to cut the vent, then pass the longer piping right through it.. Once all is adjusted to your liking and your hood fits nice a good, tight everything up and put your filter on.

Yes, you might have to trim a bit inside the hood where you cut the vent, do it from inside the hood so you dont damage the outside. It will be tight, so dont tight anything until you have it where you want it.So there's no need to notch hood? It will fit thru the vent ?

I got some pics.
You need the extension pipe. You'll have to loosen the hose clamp on the cross pipe where it meets the rubber elbow. Try to take you time cutting the grates out of the side pannel. You want it to look clean. Also make sure you cover the intake tube with a rag when cutting. Obviously you don't want anything falling in there.
In my pic you'll see when it's all finished I filled in the gap infront of the tube. My thoughts are that's a good spot for snow to fall in on the belt.

The side pannel on my machine has to be trimmed just slightly because the intake pipe was resting on it.I got some pics.

I used the tubing that was already on the sled because I didn't want the filter sticking up high like on the Mountain Version. I cut my side panel and the vent to sneak mine through. Being all black, it doesn't look too too bad. I spun the outwear filter around so the white MPI is on the inside lol.

I cut ours with a smaller size holesaw then used a drum sander with 36 grit on a drill and slowly in larged the hole bit by bit so the pipe fits upright through the black vent hole. Take you time and it will look like it was ment to be there. The trail turbos come with the longer pipe thats needed, so ask your dealer for your leftover parts from your kit.

do you have to notch the hood at all? or will it fit directly thru the black vent? and do you know if you can remove inner foam liner and just keep the cover on it ?I cut ours with a smaller size holesaw then used a drum sander with 36 grit on a drill and slowly in larged the hole bit by bit so the pipe fits upright through the black vent hole. The pipe will fit out the black vent hole however it's going to stick out on an angle so I used the drum sander on the drill to slowly notch the colored plastic so that I could get the intake to stand upright. I will take closeup picture tonight.
