thanks for the heads up but I already placed my order and I'm hoping I'll be good for the rest of the winterDara said:My dealer just lost Yammie and picked up Skidoo.
I have tried to be loyal to a local dealer but now I'm heading across the river to save some money.
Dage, if you need anything let me know. I cross over riding generally every weekend and there is a contractor working here from Timmins that has guys running back and forth weekly.

we deal through Schraders honda yamaha suzuki in Yorkton sk. biggest powersports dealer in sask and biggest fox clothing outlet in sask. i must say, half my clothes come from them. fox, one industries, ogio, thor, monster, rockstar, sled necks. they pretty much dedicated half their store to clothes, check em out on fbook. always buy stuff from there for our 5 sleds and honda quad. they have most things in stock. but some specialty stuff or hard parts take a 3 or 4 day wait. when you buy in bulk you kinda get deals haha. not only are they great ppl to work with, the lady who we bought our sleds from trailered 2 hours to come on our sled derby last winter with us. i'm starting to do more of the buying on internet thing. prices are reasonable, and shipping is great if its not somthing you need instantly.

I have heard Yamaha Canada is doing very poor because of the economy and the fact that a lot of people are buying sleds, parts etc. from the states..

The 2 dealers I deal with are great. Always have oils, filters and stuff in stock. And when they don't have it in stock it is in the next day as long as they know by 11am.
Too bad you guys are having bad experiences. A dealer can make or break a season...

We had need of a Speedo bearing for an 03 RX-1 (you know, the bearing that Yamaha has been using FOREVER) and the dealer near Bancroft (middle of snowmobile area) didn't have one.
Now I expect my local dealer to not have one of these in stock because we have no local trails or anything, but a dealer in the middle of an OFSC district?!?!?!
My local guy can usually get stuff overnight I you order early enough.

Port Yamaha for me, and my dealer is 15 mins away and on my way home from work. I wont give them a dime unless I have to.

Here in the NE (US), there have been quite a few dealerships close their doors. Not just snowmobile but ALL power sports. The economy is taking its toll and even though I feel as others have posted here you need to remember that once the dealer is gone, that source for all things Yamaha disappears. Two Yamaha dealers here have closed and I believe it will eventually hurt the Yamaha "footprint" here. I miss them both (even though only 1 was truly excellent)
I did - and do - order parts from Port when I can't/couldn't get them locally but I do miss visiting a place with shiny new sleds on their floor.

My dealer is pretty darn good. The parts are very expensive there, but they stock a lot of items and their techs are pretty good also. When I have larger ordersi use Port Yamaha.
I also use Port Yamaha via the mail when I need parts! My dealer has never had anything I've needed. I live in Maine for Christ Sakes. It's not like I'm in Arizona and looking for sled parts! I don't get it.

my local dealer is horrible took my sled in for new doughnuts under yes warranty and when i got the sled back it was worse then when i brought it there i took it to team motor sports in green bay and they fixed it right told me it was $1700.00 in extra damages done to the sled and yamaha took the money back from the worthless dealer in my home town. the owner hates yamaha anyways maybe because he keeps getting smoked on his doo. good thing is i work in GB and can go see the boys and the toys at team motor sports they are great people and have lots of parts in stock.

I have 4 dealers within 60 miles/100km of my house. the Local one is 1/4mile away but charges MSRP/LIST price on parts AND MACHINES. The one I bought my sled from (and a few wheelers over the years) usually sells to me for 20% under list.

- Yeah, Port may be cheaper (not by awhole lot), but these guy know me, and there is repsect when I bring in my sled.
- They've accepted the fact that I don't buy my sleds there, but I get my parts from them!
- Support your local dealers I say.
