Just got done greasing all the spots on my sled. Went through most of a tube of grease. The thing that got me was how much water was pushed out of everything as the grease went in. My sled hasn't seen snow and has been indoors for at least a month now and there was still water hiding in there.

Also, make sure you have a gun with a flexible hose, most of the nipples aren't very accessible.

Almost a whole tube? When was the last time you greased it and what grease are you using?

I always try and grease my machines after "every ride" due to exactly what you have found, plus it keeps the suspension working the way it is designed to do ;)!

i grease before long rides, or whenever a sled is in the garage and thawed out. every joint on our sleds has grease commin out of them. usually takes 2-3 pumps on each fitting for it to ooze out

our garage is about 5-6 degree's so it takes like 2 days to thaw out. its 30x50, (3bay)n kept warm enough so stuff dont freeze. my dad always tought me you could grease somthing and change it every few years, or not grease it and have a big bill at the end of the season. on our farm everything that moves, even just pivots, gets drilled and tapped for a zerk, and gets pumped once a week. keep things tighter longer..

For those of us without heated garages, greasing waits until a warm day in spring, or summer.

I would still try and pump some grease in there as I am sure some would go in?
Leave/put your grease gun in the house a few hrs or longer before attempting and I am sure you'll get some here there, especially the low temp kind.

Speaking of this. What kind of grease is everybody using. I want a full syn but I don't think yamalube makes it. Is amsoil a good choice? Sorry if I hijacked the thread.

john deere full synthetic, clear grease, food grade, good til -40 degree's celcius. priced at 12 dollars a tube.

or Power-Up thixo grease. its amazing stuff, super sticky, you cant wash it off your hands without gas or a high quality hand cleaner. fully aynthetic. great water repelant. priced at 14 dollars a tube.

power-up products are very high quality oil additives. our 2009 kenworth 900B semi with the cummins ISX engine runs bout 230 degree's oil temp, and 205 degree's with power up gearmax oil additive added. thats proof power up products work

Yep, I grease every ride just to get water out and peace of mind, it works. In the garage also to get the 50 plus lbs of ice off and have a good look see at everything, I treat it like an airplane, break downs suck, especially up here.
