Reading through the RX1 service manual it says to use API GL-3, 75wt oil in the chain case.
What is the difference between GL-3, GL-4 and GL-5? Can they all be used interchangebly?
Can a typical 90wt rear end gear oil be used if 75wt is unavailable?

Thanks

Alot of dealers just use 80w90 so yes it will be fine, Thats all i have ever used in trail sleds, If your going to race it use dextron, nice and thin, no resistance

Synthetic gear oil is also a very good choice, and it can be had at any auto parts store, it is very good in cold weather and it usually is 75W-90

When I change gears, or have the chain case a part for what ever reason, I always have used Mercon. or Dexron III is the same. Never had a problem that I know of.

Hey RX4fun - If you know someone that sells Amsoil, getthere gear and chaincase oil. It is clear as water, and keeps everything clean. A bottle is more than enough, and it is around 5 bucks. Just my 2 cents.
