Drive Shaft Splines- anyone else have this happen.

I always extract pistons, scotchbrite them to mirror finish, and re-install. Make sure piston bore in caliper is also polished and smooth. Clean very well before assembling.

Side note, check your caliper where the pad rides. If it has indentations that’s are deep enough the Pistons in the caliper with start too gall, ruining the caliper and causing a leak. My caliper was worn @ 7k miles and pistons were shot. There should be a stainless steel pad that the brake shoes ride on instead of the aluminum caliper housing. This is what most vehicles use to keep the pads from wearing into the caliper.

Agree completely. Steel pad running on aluminum is not good.

Just took my my sled apart this morning to check if the retaining compound worked to hold the bearing inner race to shaft and it worked..bearing is on the shaft tight will need heat and a puller to remove!
When I did the original install cleaned the shaft and inner race of the bearing then I drilled 8 divets in the shaft and reinstalled with loctite bearing retaining compound 620!

Going to replace the bearings since the seal isn't holding the grease

Managed to remove bearing it took lots of heat with a propane torch and a puller

Marc, my bearing does the same and spits out grease after re-packing. This is actually from over-packing. Look at a brand new bearing and see how little grease is really in there. I always add more than they do but don't pack it right full!

Marc, you've seen this puller, right? Travis at BOP drew it up. It uses the 3 holes in the caliper housing. I made one out of 3/8" plate. Just tighten the 3 bolts a little at a time to keep plate flat on end of track shaft.

TOO much grease is bad also. As shown. Grease gets frothy if too much in there.

It also slows the balls down and they dont spin freely. This also causes heat build up and then spits the grease out like you are seeing.

I actually never repacked the original bearing last season because there was no sign of leakage! This is the original grease gushing out
