Dupont Sliders

When we just do day rides close to home ,slider wear is not a big deal, I keep a spare set and can be changed before the next day ride. When we do a 3to 5 day saddlebag trip, worrying about my slider condition is a concern during the entire trip. If these sliders work as advertised, well worth the price.I will be trying a set as soon as I get them.

Here's mine at 2300 miles. Perfect conditions too. Hope the new ones last.

2300! Wow I have changed mine every 500 to 1500 miles! 2300 is a dream. Course I just knock them out the back and tap new ones in without dropping the skid. Doesn't seem like such a big job then.

The guy with 2300 miles on a set does not have the sled we are talking about here.

One thing that might be overlooked here is the benefit
of reduced friction which should mean more top speed
and better fuel mileage.
Also if your slides are not heating up your track clips
are not turning blue from heat. So your track life should be much better also.
Time should tell

Or are they so hard, that the clip wear will be increased???

Let us know how they compare to the originals. They will have to outlast four of the originals to make them cost effective.

Cost wise Dave ur 100% right. But when you factor in pita factor of changing slides (I know, not rocket science but a pita nonetheless) I think they're worth it.

But reason I haven't gone for them, despite my early enthusiasm is they are designed to work with fully clipped tracks. Being I'm still running stock 136" ripsaw, I prob wouldnt see as great of a benefit from these. These work because the Vespel doesn't heat up sliding over metal, as in the metal clips on the track. It's an ingenious idea. But my stock track isn't fully clipped.

aren`t all the stock 121`s only clipped and open every 3rd? so if these are designed to work w/ fully clipped tracks do they recommend a track change?

Gmfamily, I believe these Vespel sliders are primarily designed for the Apex XTX and anyone running and taller lugged track, which usually means your also running extro drivers and a fully clipped track.

If the intent was for a long track I would expect the inlay to at least go the length of a slide for a 136" skid, not stop at the 121" slide lenghth as it does.
With the '12 XTXs having the wheels lowered in the rails I wonder if there is even a wear issue on those anymore?

Where did you get this information? I've never heard of sliders that were model specific other than length.

I have a set on order waiting for them to come in. I'm putting mine on a 2012 Vector LTX (136"). I have a fully clipped track. I hope it helps a lot with the slider issue. I hate replacing items during the winter days when I can be riding. I prefer to replace items either before or after the season.

I had an 06 121 apex cut out my windows and clipped the whole track, helped out. My XTX nytro isn't as hard on hy-fax

I hope Ulmer or someone with a track dyno tests these.I do believe they will give a performance increase and track sucks alot of power so it could be substansial.I was looking at the only set my dealer got and the Vespal pieces actually stick out of the main slide a bit.Less surface usually means less friction.I think they might cause a little noise though.I am going to try them since my wheels still havent failed and I didnt put Excells on yet.

2010 Apex GT LTX is really bad as well; 2000 miles and 3 sets of sliders; put the extra wheel kit on last year and replaced 2 wheels cause the rubber peeled off. My dealer put the new sliders on last week; no cost because of all the grief I've had; they don't appear to provide any increased performance or be any more noisier. We'll see about longevity
