We went to the 1/4 mile yesterday (Sunday October 17) To test my MOD airbox against my ECP Air kit.
I'm afraid that the testing did not go well with the MOD airbox. I still have faith in this but I am not ready to release this to the public. Unlike my Air Kits, I have not devoted enough testing time to the MOD airbox. Right now, I have a lot on my plate and would prefer to concentrate on things that are going to bring my customers bigger dividends than these MOD airboxes. My biggest fear is that I will struggle for a long time only to make them as good as the Air Kits.
In theory they are right in line, but like the approximate year I spent testing the air kits, the MOD airbox will require more time in the testing department. All indications show that the MOD airbox can really perform. The jetting is going to have to be HUGE however...which is a good sign for performance as I hate to have to lean carburetion to get an engine to perform. It is much better to have to add fuel to make power than take it away. I have proven once again however that the RX1 Engine is very sensitive to intake mods near the opening (bellmouth) of the carburetors. I do beleieve that a complete custom jet kit is going to be required to get the MOD airbox to perform properly. I am going to put these in the hands of a few select guys that are willing to "suck hind tit" to test them for me. My projects in the shop right now will not allow me to spend the time required to test these the way that my customers and the sleds deserve. Therefore, the need to enlist some help from the outside.
This project is not "dead in the water"...just going to take a little while longer to get them to perform properly. Please don't be angry with me as we always have the Air Kits to sell and they perform great as you all know. Think of this too... During the time I was testing my Air Kits and without you all knowing that the air kits were available, you wern't missing anything. Please try to think of this MOD airbox prgram the same way. Perhaps I let the cat out of the bag a little too early and for that I am sorry if anyone got their hopes too high.
The ECP Air Kits are available for immediate shipment if anyone is intertested.
I will keep you all posted as to the developments on the MOD airbox program.
Thanks for all your patience.
