ECP MOD (Maximum Oxygen Delivery) Airbox final results.

im not trying to step on your toes with your kits theres no doubt they work awsome and if the air box mod works id be considering it in a second, if im wrong on any ideas let me know just dont take it the wrong way

I currently have the standard kit and am very impressed with it's mid-range boost. I also have possibly increased my gas mileage. I can't help but wonder though what is going to happen to the gas mileage with jets in the 200+ size range. I don't mine loosing some if the gains are substantial, the nagging question to me is... how much? :?

I would be willing to bet the gas milage wouldnt even change due to the fact you wouldnt be on the gas as much due to the power increase.

Freddie after reading all your in put and seeing where it puts out 10 HP more than the filter kit I can see myself takeing my 2 0ff my sleds even thou I havent even used them yet. keep us informed. ;)! Great job..

sorry to hear about your friend. the only question i have is how much money do i send u. i just got my sled today and by this forum this alone, i am convinced you are the man that will lead me to victory against non-epc filter or box modded rx warriors. no harm ment stock boys. man these sleds are something else!!!! i live for mods!!!!!!

like i said there would be some boost generated but what is a 1/8th of a psi going to do to performance compared to the gains through the massivly increased airflow and denser charge. I just thought that after reading all the posts and hearing some people thinking theres multiple hp to be gained through a ram effect whne really there shouldnt be, i simply think the reasons your kits make good power is the air, more air and more fuel plus a denser charge equals more power. ;)!

Interesting thing about air density. More air = more density = higher pressure (when held at a constant temperature). When you say that the good power comes from more air and a denser charge, that is exactly the same as saying its from a higher pressure.

The only time when this doesn't exactly hold is when you alter the temperature, lower temperature makes lower pressure at the same density, so the pressure increase necessary for any performance gain is much lower when free breathing than with a turbo.

PV/T = constant. Anybody know what kind of intake temperatures are experienced by turbos at different boost levels?

Personally, I'm not sure this mod will be for me. While I'm sure it provides great improvements in power, the cutting the hood is a major turn off (even if looking stock). I'm sure it would work great on the lake or on the track, but how about in snow dust or deep snow? How would the intake perform when burried? (see pic). Even the air filters had to have pre-filters to keep the snow out. At this point I just don't see it working for me and my riding. I may be proven wrong (and I hope I am) once it actually comes out though and pictures are available.

Thanks to all on the thoughts for my dearly departed friend.

If you are not experiencing any problems with snow ingestion, you will not with the MOD airbox either as there will be a prefilter in place and just like the air kit, if it gets too clogged you simply brush it off and continue riding.

RX1Cowboy, I am not taking it the wrong way. I understand subjective thinking people and welcome anyones input. The smartest thing that I realize is that I don't know everything about everything.

I intend to try and post the prices today or tomorrow for the MOD kit.

Thanks for all the replies and good talk to everyone.

Freddie

It appears that you are a "pessimist". I am an "optimist". I see this MOD as increasing the value of the sled, not decreasing it. When you invest in performance or appearance this is supposed to create an environment where you increase in value.

I don't argue any of that Freddie. The problem is that what you as an owner of a sled see as value, a buyer of the sled when you try to sell it does not see it the same way. Where I live performance mods to a sled are a surefire indication of a sled that has been ridden hard and often beaten. Because of this these mods end up decreasing the resale value of the sled and the money you spent on the mods can almost never be recovered. This is why when I modify my sled I am usually looking for something that can fairly easily be converted back to stock when the time comes to sell the sled. However, if there is a mod that is cost effective and provides results as good as what you are seeing in the case of the MOD airboxes it really makes me think about taking the chance at losing a few dollars on resale down the road...

Thanks for being responsive to questions and not seeing them as a challenge to your credibility, and I am sorry for your personal loss.

Sounds to then that you may want my Air KIt instead of the MOD airbox.

I will almost certainly purchase one or the other. I really am waiting to see what the MOD airbox looks like. From what you are saying, it should be better, and my guess would be that the sound levels would be closer to stock than the Air Kit.

ROTFLMAO. NO I mean $500 more value when you sell. I look at the glass and I see it as half full.
You don't sound like much of an "expert", if you think an aftermarket mod that involves a hole in the hood increases the value. There isn't much question here. QC rider is correct, and I also think Yamaholic oughta loosen up his bra straps. He was asking some questions any serious consumer would want answers to, it didn't sound argumentative to me either. Besides, the questions were directed to Supertuner, let him answer them. 8)
Well let me put it this way real simple so you can understand as I know your no expert. The way I sell a sled is too have it look good and run good. I take my hole in the hood with modded air box and I kick your no hole in hood stock air box's butt in front of the buyer comparing the two sleds. IF they both look & run good and I want $500 more which one is Joe Balonie going to buy. On another note when you quote you only use the slash on the last quote not on both. Now that is expert advice. LOL

You sell your sleds in the Winter?
