The owners manual states: Do not use "Energy Conserving II Oil"
In the engine. I've noticed that just about all 5W-30 petroleum based oils have "Energy Conserving" on there labels, but the (II) designation is not present.
Does any one have any information on this topic? Plus I was thinking that it would be better for break in to use a petroleum based oil.

I am pretty sure I read somewhere that this is a Type-O.

Even the yamaha oil qualifies as "Energy Conserving". Just read the list of friction reducers they use.
