That makes sense. Man I wish you lived near by. I would pay you whatever you wanted for your time and knowledge. Seems simple.
The one problem is my motor/technical skills are a weakness. I'm so uncomfortable doing that type of stuff. I would mess that up some way and create more problems for myself and I know this to be fact cause I have done that before.
It is not too late to cancel my order. I hate stuff like this cause it takes me forever to make a decision and then I double guess myself all freaking day!!!!! Maybe I need to get out of the sport and take up cable TV.

I'm more disappointed your dealer didn't offer this method of correction. It's literally about $5 in parts.

....... and have a little better belt squeeze to boot
MN go to your dealer and ask if they have the rivets. If they dont find a local race and ask the first racer you see who to get it done by. Then make good friends with the guy. Ask him if you can watch and bring food!
Thanks TurboJamie like they say a pic is worth a thousand words. Well done.

TJ I know what you are saying. I would have figured that the dealer would have recognized the problem and would have had a solution. I thought this what they did all day. I'm going to run it over tomorrow. I would tackle it on my own if I had that confidence.
So, here are my questions because I'm not sure I have a lot of faith in the process.
1. Do you know what size rivet I should have placed in the front hole? Not sure they will know what size to put in there.
2. Since I have already ordered that part and I'm not concerned about the money, would it be an OK part to still add?
You have been really helpful and appear to be very knowledgable and I really appreciate that.
If you ever need commercial website work done, I will help you out.

1. The rivets are standard for yamaha weights, so the yamaha dealer should have rivets in stock, if they don't there are different weight rivets. See here http://daltonindustries.com/products_ya ... mobile.asp scroll down and you will see on the right side yamaha rivets. Just ask your dealer for the heaviest ones they have should be still ones and match the two that are in the base of the stock weight.
2. You are fine to order and have the dealer install the part there is nothing wrong with doing that and you will likely be fine, as I said before earlier may ways to skin this cat.
Your dealer should be able to add the weight to the stock rivets inside an hour of time. Its very simple to do however I understand your position my brother in law is a school teacher and I have been slowly teaching him mechanical things. It took him 3 hours to change his first belt on his own so I see where your coming from. For some of us its just as easy as you writing html code.
That is funny. I'm a school teacher as well. We know a little about a lot of things but not much depth in many. Oh yea, I did change my own belt in about 10 minutes for the record.
Just out of curiousity, where are you located? I'm in central MN. About two hours north of the cities.

About an hour and a half north of Toronto. My wife is also a school teacher nuff said ... haha.
Dealer called and they replaced the helix with the one from the Hauck Performance. I will pick it up in a bit and will report back on what has changed. Hopefully the problem is solved.

Can you please tell me what the weight of the stock Viper weights are? (with the rivets in of course) I am going to have to adjust our Viper for over 10k and don't wish to remove weight to weigh it.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I'll have to recheck its either 67.5 or 65.5
I'm leaning towards 67.5

Got it back. It still did it. So, I ordered the whole clutch kit from Hauck and will just update the whole clutch. Different weights that will make easier to adjust for going out west. I think in the long run it will be a good move. I ordered kit number 5.

Figures it did t fix it and you have to spend more money. Sucks I would have fixed it for about $5.
I wish you were closer. You could have saved me 350 bucks. Oh well. Such is life.
Wow. Clutch tuning is something that anyone can become good at. Most basic thing needed is patience and persistence. MN take my advice and find a PERFORMANCE shop or a local racer they normally love to share their knowledge. It can be very rewarding learning something new.
