Hi, stupid question here.... But I need to change my oil for the initial break-in spec (500miles)...

I bought the sled used with 800mi on it and found out the guy did not change the oil ever. So I need to do that now...

What oil is best to run in the RX1? I am looking for a brand and a number...

Also... The owners manual didnt say to change the filter after the first 500 miles, but should I?

Thanks for the help!

Oil Filter Part Number?

I think this is the correct Oil Filter Part Number that I need to order?

5GH-13440-00-00

Napa filter 1358 fits just fine and costs like $4.00. I think I got that # correct. Help me out here guys.
I gather by a different post that people like the Mobil 1 0W-30 in a 2005 RX1 much better than running the Yamalube 4S 0W-30?

Yamalube is adequate. It's a semi-synthetic...not a full ester synthetic. For the same money, however...you can get a premium full-synthetic oil...so why pay the premium for it to say *Yamalube* on the jug...when that money can go to actually having a far better product?

do you like the Mobil 1 0w-40 or the AMSoil 0w-40 better for this application?

Both are fine oils, Matt. Take your pick. Based on chemistry analysis I've read on the web...with isolated exceptions...the Amsoil offering in the different weight classes is about the best money can buy...

I run the 0-40 four stroke Amsoil. I've run full synthetic in every internal combustion engine I've owned for 20+ years...and I've never seen an application where there is such a marked change in the quietness and smoothness as this Genesis Extreme engine after throwing in the Amsoil....

Go to www.amsoil.com and pay $10 for a dealership and buy it online for wholesale price...

My buddy used full synthetic oil after like 2000 miles on his 03 RX-1,and then had starter problems. He was told it was from synthetic oil.... i dont know myself but im sure there are some on here who know....LB YOU ON????

I've been using the Yamalube 4-CW (Cold Weather). I think it's 5-30 non-synthetic. So far so good, and in the owners manual it does state to stay away from oils of a certain grade because of the starter clutch.
