I have a '03 Rx-1M and it continuosly jumps it's track. I tightened it to spec and it still jumps. If I try to walker her into a bank, hit it, and keep on walking the track jumps a lot when she hits the bank. The nobs on the inside of the track look fine as do the drivers but it jumps wayyy too much for my liking, any ideas? Thanks, maniac

when being a hoodalum on a sled.
.who said that..lol.. .like ridding on the
tail.the track will ware the teeth on your drivers..the stock ones are really cheap
.check there and see if they are worn.and dont put the stock ones back on..
it forces the suspention and track up.. thus making the track loser in the front..if you want to solve the problem...get a dirt bike..

I think that extros are your only option. You can tighten the track like a guitar string and it will still ratchet on that stock suspension.

I was thinking the best solution would be anti ratchet drivers. What's the best one, how much do they cost, and where do I get them? Thanks, maniac.

I ran Wahl's on my 03 when I had it. They worked fine. If you are doing this and you have the budget - you may want to swap tracks and go to a 3" pitch track if you need to. I wish I would have went to a longer track when I did my 03, I think a 159 would have helped me out a bunch where I ride.

Whee can I get Wahl's?? And, sorry for this technically stupid question but, what does a 3"pitch track mean??

The pitch is the center to center distance betwen the track "nubs" that the drivers come into contact with to turn the track.
Your pitch is currently 2.52" if I remember right. All the newer mountain sleds from Yamaha now come with a 3" pitch setup. Lighter tracks and more room between the track lugs are the main advantages. Ski-Doo uses a 2.86 pitch setup.
Just something else to consider while you have it torn apart.

So will the wahl's fit on my track?? I don't know the technical name of it, just that it's the stock Yammie mountain track that's on '03 mountains. Are these just bolt on with no home fabs required?

Wahl Bros makes all different sizes. Yes they will work - You have to order the right set of drivers - # teeth, pitch, and shaft size.

Give them a call and I am sure they can tell you what you need.
This is not a simple job like the transfer kit is. You will need a hydraulic shop press to put the drivers on/off of the shaft. Measurements for the centers should be on this website somewhere, or get yourself a shop manual.

wait guys. He has the stock 03 mtn track. Wasn't that track closed every third or something weird like that? Won't the track need to be punched and clipped to run extros?
not a deal breaker I just want to make sure that all things are considered.

Yep - there are two threads going right now discussing this, I brought up that in the other thread.

You don't need to clip the track when you punch out the windows. A sharp wood chisel and a 2x4 is all it takes to punch the track windows out.

So if you're making more windows in the track and the extros will be driving with these windows should I put cletes in the windows?

See my post above - I did not put the clips on my track when I punched out the windows and it worked fine.
