Exhaust Donuts & Y Pipes....Step by step

Can't get copper
Dealer has SPX ?
They are telling me they are identical to the updated Yamaha ones

I just did the donuts (replaced with copper ones from SledToyz) on my 2011 Apex...much simpler than my Nytro. I didn't even have to remove the flex pipes from the head or even disconnect the EXUP cables.

I really appreciate the write up. I'm really new at this and have taken the sled apart to see the Y pipes are cracked. The question I have is do you have to drop the track take the y pipes out, drill bracket out, reinstall, or can you leave the track on? Thank you so much.

you can leave the track in but it is way easier to take it out. drill the brackets or remove the flex pipes are your choices gasket is reuseable if you remove the flex pipes. be sure you remove the silencer before loosening the y pipes it makes the job of seperating the y pipes fron silencer easier.

Thanks! Its intimidating to drop the track for the first time but I will try it. I'm in that deep so what is one or two more bolts.

The stripping of the threads in step 15 is what I'm fearful of next!

yes goodluck there and when you get them out replace with hex head bolts.

Thanks for the tip. The bolts are loosened which is good news. Removing the y tips is hard! I'm not sure where the silencer is located. I just see the Y pipes go into the muffler. No doubt there some gasket that fits them together. I did remove the 2 brackets that holds the Y pipe into the muffler but still no luck separating the two.

silencer is the muffler keep y pipes connected to the front brackets and then pound off the silencer/muffler with a dead blow hammre and some shaking and some pulling. they kinad glue them selfs together at that joint but the silencer is pretty hard and can take a beating from a heavy rubber hammer or dead blow type rubber coated. good luck on that one with some effort I have always been able to get them appart.

Those pipes are on hard. Got them 1/2 off. Tried Mepp gas. No luck. May have to take the front of the track off tomorrow and get a better angle. Been pounding on the y pipe under the sled. It seems like the muffler and silencer can dent easy.

It is one piece all the way back so try a ratchet strap to something sturdy to put pressure on it secure front of sled too

Tried the racket and tied it to my bumper of the truck. No luck. Anyone every try and just take the bracket off,(drill off the rivits), and pull the entire exhaust out with the y pipes attached? I will say, I'm really hesitant to drop the entire track and hit the y pipe. The wire that hooks up the shock looks intimidating to remove.

You can drill the brackets also lots have

All I can say is thank you. The baffle/muffler and y pipes are separated! Hope there is a way to pay you guys back someday.
