the insulation on the Heat shield is in bad shape. On the top shield, half is virtually disintegrated.
What do you guys do, replace it with Yamaha part or something else?
Where do you get an adhesive to glue it on?
Last question. How do you get at the bottom insulation under the flex pipes, it's a tight fit to say the least
Thanks
Ms

I used something like the products in the link at the bottom (I think I actually used the amazon product) when I did my donuts last year. I was worried about it because it looks different than the OEM product (which isn't available by itself) but I checked it this year after putting 5000km + and it still looks like new so....
I removed the flex pipes to install my bottom piece.

See now that you are from Canada as am I. There appears to be lots of heat shield type products/sources in the US but not many here...I added an amazon.ca link (for the product that I believe I used).

Don't think it is listed. You could probably get the top one if you bought the whole piece. Not sure about the bottom one; it might be part of the tunnel.

For the bottom insulation (which isnt in too bad of shape), would you lay the Moose product overtop of it, or scrape it out?
BTW - thanks.

I scraped it all off cleaned the surfaces and applied on bare metal on both the tunnel portion and the shield.

Will the Moose product be thick enough - would you ever double layer it?
The stock insulation is pretty thick stuff - looks like its 1/8" to 1/4".
Thanks for clarifying. I appreciate the help

moose product is thick enough, I would only put one layer on myself. I have used it on many of my bikes, jet ski, boat and also on many sleds. I put 4000kms on mine last winter and still looks new.

Hey Msgt Van
Thanks for the part number. I have decided to order that part which is both the aluminum shield with the insulation. Here in Canada that part is over 100 bucks. Nice. You cant buy just the insulation.
Since the gas tank sits right on top of it, I have chose to get the stock upper shield and will replace the lower heat shield with the Moose product.
Thanks for everyone's help

Let me know how that Moose product works. I put a Magnaflow exhaust under the tunnel and wanted to make the space under the seat a storage area. I'm afraid without proper insulation it'll be a pizza oven under there since the muffler's so close to the aluminum covering the tunnel.
Did you find the part number for the top cover? 8GL-14637-00-00
