I let a friend borrow a machine and when I got it back i noticed the exhaust was way louder. I assume a clamp came loose? Maybe i will need to take the gas tank off? Can some one shine some light on this for me? Thanks in advance

You can look down the tunnel with a light to inspect the header and with the engine running you can look through the tunnel bulk head holes and sometimes see the clamps spin on the pipes when the donuts are gone.

If it's noticeably louder I'd be removing the seat and gas tank to inspect the exhaust donuts, flex pipes and header pipe for cracks. If it's just the exhaust donuts replace them with copper donuts.

Header might have cracked where the 3 merge to single pipe.

There 9100 miles on it, i will have to look for all of those things, it is noticeably louder. Is there any tips on gettimg the tank off?

The seat and tank are easily removed but removing the head pipe to replace it, the flex pipes or donuts can be a little more challenging. Most people are drilling out the 10 rivets that hold the front exhaust hanger in the tunnel. Removing the two Allen bolts under the rubber plugs won't allow for the head pipe to be removed unless all the flex pipes are removed and the bolts tend to be difficult to get out. Removing the flex pipes from the head can be another challenge. I've broke and stripped the heads off those bolts which resulted in rolling the engine up so I could remove a broken bolt.

Check out the muffler! There have been issues where something happens inside, they get louder and then start on fire! like the 2014 Viper of a friend of mine... Yamaha paid for all the damage under warranty.

That seems to be pretty intensive, i guess ill be hoping it isn’t the head pipe.

That's a Viper problem. The Nytro didn't have any known issues with the muffler so there shouldn't be any real concerns with that.

Even if just replacing the donuts most are drilling out the hanger rivets so they can slide the head pipe and muffler back far enough to change them. Removing the two bolts in the hanger won't allow you to slide the pipe back far enough to install donuts. I used to remove the bolts then compress the flex pipes but that was difficult and in doing so I was taking a chance on breaking a flex pipe which are already fragile enough.

Got it off and the pipe is broken in half. Should i try to weld it? Are there any salvage dealers on here with used ones?

I just sold one a couple of days ago.

I've welded them in the past and so far haven't had any reports of them braking again.

usually just weld it back together but I've done exhaust work that I've reinforced a seam by splitting a short section of exhaust pipe and welding the halves over the welded seem. I just did a repair on a RX1 exhaust that broke at the collector and I re-welded it then added a couple of flat steel straps on the top and bottom of the header to bridge the seam.
