Expert X question

Fullback

I didn't lose any top end. That is the nice thing about the expert. I am having the shocks that came in the expert revalved.

I am having a local guy do it. He is a friend of a friend. I think it will make a big difference. I don't think that AD bovin know's what they are doing in the valving department. [/i]

I agree with you 136xpertx, I think that why the skid turned me off so much...I high priced skid with poor vavling....

I've got a 136 expertx in my 03 and love it. You can adjust the weight transfer and Being 250lbs the shocks seem very good to me. I turned my shafts down .125" per side and installed the reinforcement plates on the inside of the tunnel, looks great.
You can get them from Joel Schneider Service, in Albany, MN.
Call Joel at 320-845-4856

Hey 136expertx, how are you valving those shocks?

sledheadgeorge: I think he is going to go with a progressive valving. the problem with the shocks right now is you have to click the springs up to much to stop it from bottoming in the big bumps. When you do that it bucks in the 1 to 2 footers like a pogo stick or rebounds to fast. So instead of getting it to stop bottoming through spring adjustments we are going to get it through valving. ther progressive valving will make it ride better in the studders to.

Does anyone have some info (or a website) on the 'Clicker-Shock' ver of the Expert X.

Thanks,

I don't think you'll be able to totally eliminate the bucking in that suspension do due it's design. I've tried many different valving combinations and wasn't totally satisfied. The suspension basically acts different as the conditions change. :o| I do agree Boivin did a poor job valving the shocks!! There is defiantely much more room for improvement over factory calibrations.

Aaron @ J&J Yamaha did his own valving in their Expert X skids as well and it was quite an improvement.

FYI. I just had Aaron install my Expert X and made him do the revalve of the shocks. He did not agree. He told me to ride it first and then decide. With all of the bucking I had with the proaction, I had had enough. I do not want to be bucked anymore. Aaron is now off on his own. I am told he is the best installer and tuning for the RX1 with the Expert X in the North East. I enjoyed working with him and thought he did a great job. He stood behind his work and answered any questions I had and said at anytime I needed help tuning, he would help me. He can be reached at 315.691.6916. My main concern with the X was being able to keep the skis down. Both Bovin and Aaron guaranteed they would make me happy or I could get my money back. Time will tell. I am looking forward to getting out and seeing what this skid can do. The only ride I got was putting the sled in the trailer. Nothing to report from that. I will report more as soon as the white stuff flies.

Dana, I was wondering when you were going to respond to this post. What took you so long?
