It seems like either your RX-1 ratchets or it doesn't. Mine did stock so I put on extroverts and guess what, it still ratchets!
Now I am thinking of adding the outer drivers from the stock driver setup in addition to just the two extrovert drivers.
Has anyone else done this?
Does it help?
Frosty
PS: I think only the most powerful 10% 0f RX-1s actually ratchet

I put on the wahl brothers drivers which combines the extroverts with the stock drivers. I run it at about 1.5 to 2" of sag and it does not ratchet.

Did you return to the recomended MPI suspension settings and it still ratchets?
As I recall you had made changes to you mounting points, transfer kit, etc.

I planned to move my rear axle back to the upper (stock height) hole but, after reading how many people had the MPI billet rear suspension mounts and also had theirs in the lower hole without ratcheting I figured I'd look elsewhere for my problem (how's that for a run on sentence).
I put my forward shock of the rear suspension to the weakest setting to minimize the weight transfer.
I clicked the rear shock of the rear suspension to one notch above the weakest to help slow down the transfer.
The track now has between 7/8- 1" of sag (in place of the 1 5/16" I had earlier) at the lowest point now (measured between the bottom of the slide to the inside of the track).
My full rate adjuster is in the upper hole (least dampening)
My MPI transfer enhancement kit is set two notches settings more aggressive than suggested by MPI (this is probably my problem, but I just don't understand how).
If I can't get it to stop I'll have to put the transfer rods back in and try it or add the outer drivers like I suggested above.

Weird...... I would try putting the transfer kit back to the suggested setting just to see what it does. I'm with you in that I don't see why this would be the cause, but it is the only other differrence between your setup and the others who are not having ratcheting problems.

I just installed the wahl bros extroverts , Left all the stock drivers out , works fine w/ turbo & mpi transfer kit .

If it's jumping the teeth on the extroverts, I don't think regular drivers will stop it. i would look at your suspension settings first. We have ran them on the last 4 sleds, 3 with Mtn pro-action up to 150hp and new pro-mtn with 200hp...none ratcheted.

Had some trouble with the 8 tooth ones too with 9 tooth drivers it was gone.Runn them on a layth and true them, most aftermarket drivers don't runn true that is some of the ratcheting problem.
Just under 1 inch sag the way you have it is about perfect.

Powder Muncher, I did true the wahl brother 8 tooth extroverts on a lathe before installation. I'm at my witts end in trying to figure this out. It just shouldn't be doing this.
9 tooth? Will they fit without rolling the chain case?

Hi Frosty
The 9 tooth drivers work well, there is about 1/2 inch clearance at the tightest spot with the stock chaincase. At first I was not sure myselve
but it works well . The old yamaha suspesion needs a very tight track no matter what you do(The MPI seems to be only a light weight version), I found the holtz a little bit more forgiving.
I just build the sled and did a little testing. Took it out last weekend in set up snow worked awsome. Now we have 3 feet of fresh powder
(and a lot of 2 smokes looking for revenge), will let you know how it works in deep snow.

Sorry, but there is not 1/2" clearance with the 9T, at least not on the 05 chassis, which i believe is the same. There are two narrow spots, 1 at the top and 1 front & centre. I measured it with some 9's in and got 3/16" from the top of the paddle to the cooler, that's not much clearance to clear snow. I dropped back to the 8's to have more clearance. Take a piece of 1/2 hose and try and feed it through. There are quite a few guys running 9's though, I just opted for the better clearance. I had 8's on my 03 RX1 Mtn and it never ratcheted, didn't have a turbo though.

Hi Slymax
Just went down to the shop to measure the clearanceon my 04 RX1, even used the 1/2 inch outside diameter hose as sugested and it just fits( snugg) as said on the front and the top of the driver, this is a stock track with 9 tooth turbo 2 drivers . It is almost double the clearance we used to have on my first mm 700 when we went from 1 3/4 to the 2 inch track, now that was tight.
By the way this is not my idea this is what the alpine motorsports guys suggest for their turbo sleds.
One more advantage is that the 9 tooth gives you a better approach angle and less rolling resistance due to the larger diameter , however with less clearance there is more resistance . It is anyones guess what performs better at the end.

05 must be different, I guess. Run what works for you, I like some clearance. I have around 1/2" with the 8T and the 2.125 lugs.
