Getting my sled ready for the winter and last year I noticed the fan wasn't working, turns out the fuse was blown, I changed the fuse and heated up the sled to see if the fan would kick on and the fuse blew again. I figure I have a bad fan but before I buy a new one I was wondering if anyone else had this problem or if they knew another reason why the fuse would blow. Thanks for any help.
Havent heard of anyone else but only other test you could do is unplug the fan and warm sled up see if fuse blows again. If it would then that would either be a short in wiring or the sensor. I would say if fuse did not pop then yes it must be the fan itself. Could also just jump the fan and see if it works.

I have the same problem. I removed it and its hard to turn prob rust in the motor shaft and bushings. They get wet often. It doesnt come apart and will have to be replaced.
It's a two wire plug. Run 12v power to one and ground the other. Could use jumper cables. Just be careful. What would be a easy way to jump the fan?

Warranty?

In my opinion reversing the fan would not draw as much water through the fan, still lives in a wet area though.

My fan died in less than 500 miles. Replaced under warrantee at the end of last season. Seems they must have gotten a bad batch of fans. Hopefully it wasn't replaced with the same batch.

Seams like these A.C. fans don't hold up to the environment very well? I never had issues with our older Japan Yamaha fans. Maybe adapt the brackets and use one of them if you don't have warranty left on your sled instead of buying a fan you know is going to fail again? I'm not sure what Japan model would have a fan about the same size but just a idea to kick around?
If I remember right it's a Spal fan. Those are good fans. Normally.

Mine failed mid season last year. I removed it and without the restriction to airflow the fan and shroud creates I had no problems even at slow speed. I just did not let it idle for long periods. Not sure I will even bother replacing it.

Agreed, fan usually only runs at stop or very slow. On our Blue Viper I removed the fan and radiator and run ice scratchers.
