I'm going to put the 24/50 in my Winder for next season so will find outJust rode with a bud who has a brand new stock Cat RR for 2 days. Swapped a few times, and I must say the stock Cat with 24/50 gearing and TEAM clutches really works well corner to corner! Its been along time since mine was stock, but I never thought the stock Winder setup had nearly enough snap for corner to corner trails here, so I run the 270 tune always and its an animal now, but stock I feel the Cats really work quite well!
Makes me wonder how crazy snappy 24/50 would be corner to corner with 270++ tune!!! Team definitely does not grab the belt as hard down at very bottom, like our YAM primary does, but the TEAM compression secondary does have MORE engine braking then our torsional secondary which I love.

I am running the stock 24/50 in my cat with pm tunes. It's a riot but you do run out of gear fastJust rode with a bud who has a brand new stock Cat RR for 2 days. I hear ya....and always did not want the Cat gearing for this very reason. On my Calculator it shows about 118mph at 9k. So 116 to 118 does sorta suck for top speed as my Winder with tune gets to those speeds in a split second.I am running the stock 24/50 in my cat with pm tunes. It's a riot but you do run out of gear fast
But man o man, for my trail system it sure works well for stock HP.
So maybe 24/48 would be a good compromise....I certainly have been liking my 21/41 stock gears(@270) and not missing my 22/41 from last season, and sure that is aiding my incredible belt life I got now too.

I have run both, and the more i ride the 24/50 with 1.6" Ice Cobra the more addicting this combo is. Corner to corner and the general "Pull Factor" of this combo is fantastic.
The 21/41 has its benefits for high speed trail riding... its better up top (70+mph trail riding), and obviously has longer legs. Quebec type riding the 21/41 may be the ticket, tighter trails and corner to corner the 24/50 works very well.

Hey Dan what would be the the top speed for the 24 48 gears? Would you if stock chain from 24 50 would fit?I hear ya....and always did not want the Cat gearing for this very reason. Sorry for my scattered posts here.
That GPS shot of 116 was from Northern Ontario recently, and was the highest speed I could achieve with 24/48 gears. Speedometer read 124 mph(200kmph),
with 8DN belt, so maybe 2-3 more is possible with 8JP or other correct length belt. RPM's were 9600 here and the rev limiter starting popping as soon as the speedo showed 124mph.
I didn't have to use a different chain here, but the adjuster bolt only had 1 thread showing with the aluminum spacer still in place.
This sled came with 24/50 stock, which was good for 113.
We know these sled are easily capable of much higher speeds but I guess you gotta ask yourself how often you ride over 120mph.
Maybe someone will invent a dual range chain case someday

How does that 24/50 affect MPG on bigger trails v the 21/41? I was just thinking like a week long saddle bag trip and finding fuel can sometimes be dicey.

I have come to the conclusion over the years that higher gearing resulting in better mileage is a myth. It has much more to do with clutching and other factors like possibly slightly different fuel maps/exhaust etc.
The guy with me on our last trip had the higher gearing and I used a little less every fill-up.
