First impressions Curve XS skis

I have used the stock skis and 6 inch shaper bars since new.
It pushed like a shopping cart with the stock settings, after pulling up the strap 1 hole and adjusting the suspension it was better but darted quite a bit.
The steering effort increased when I pulled up the strap.

This week I put 300 miles on the new Curve XS skis starting at Greenville Maine.
I have 6 inch round bars and the leading edge as suggested by the manufacturer.
I had checked the toe and found it ok and set the strap back to the stock setting when I installed the curves
I found a great improvement in the first few miles.
The steering effort was reduced and the cornering is great, much more predictable.
I did not notice any darting but will need more time in different conditions to evaluate it.
The Curves look great and the fit and finish are outstanding.
My only concern:
When backing up on ice or hard pack I noticed quite a bit of drag on the skis.
Not sure if this is due to the leading edge but if it continues I will ask the Curve
folks.
Hope we get more snow so I can test the flotation.

Could the backing up becausing the weight to transfer shifting to the front when going in reverse. Actually the best way to maneuver on ice or concrete (gas pumps) is to overshoot and then back up to correct our position.

I agree with Chester, sounds like the likely cause?

I never ran the stockers on mine so I can't compare, but I never noticed what your talking about with my Curves and L.E's.(My strap is currently in the 3rd hole)
 
my guess is the extra effort backing up is your carbides bighting in. This is worsened if you have rear carbide bias. This puts pressure on the rear of the carbide to help with tracking but will make it harder to back up especially when the carbides are new. I have had to take a grinder to the backs of my carbides before when they are finished square edged. Not fun backing out of the garage and grabbing the drain.

dartless plates would have cured your stock skis darting issues, allowing you to put more weight on the front of the sled, as well as increase front ski pressure, making them turn easier and bite harder. Using the skis forward motion to help you turn the ski.

On the vector, You should not be having these results. It sounds like your sled might be set up with some incorrect toe in or out. Did you buy the leading edge with the ski?

My guess is also your toe in/out is out of whack.
Follow Curve's thorough instructions without skipping any steps and I am sure you will find your's are currently out of spec.
