Another couple of things I noticed was the air filter is soaked with oil and dripping down past the clutch. See pic. Very minor and just wanted to let people know.
In the suspension, they added an all plastic wheel on the 141, just above the shock in the rear suspension. Must have had a concern with rub somewhere.

What's with all the oil?
What type of filter is it and what are people cleaning it with?

The viper secondary is proven to handle more power than the roller, we should swap now

The air filter is foam and they do not want any particles getting thru the air intake....so just like a K&N filter, it is coated with a special oil to catch any dust (Just went a little overboard on the oil)
Bad part is it is just above the clutch so I will be taking mine apart and mopping up the excess .

I'll make sure to leave the 35 ° helix on it
Yup, tried last night and here is a picture. So....for you guys that want to spend the $$$ you can put a sidewinder roller clutch on your Viper or Nytro.
Wouldn't that be something if the Sidewinder secondary cleared up some of the top speed problems and inconsistency guys have been having. Sure is something to try. Now you got me wondering how much I could get one for.

You are reading my mind sxr70001
I believe it will.... Just got off of the phone with Thunder Products and his billet ER roller setup with any helix angle you want is $395. Don't know what a sidewinder clutch will go for but definitely something to think about.

Word!
I was right there with all you guys in 2014 when we all had first year sleds and were trying to figure out how to make them go like we thought they should. I tried most of the clutching mods that you and others came up with and the things that freed my sled up the most from the 90 mph brick wall were shimming out my helix and the 8dn belt change. Both changes which I believe just gave the clutches a little more room to operate without binding or running out of room. Of course now I don't shim my helix anymore because I have different springs and helix to address the problem.
Bottom line is I think improper factory clutching has been responsible for a lot of the bad rap the Viper got since the beginning.
Let us know what you find.

You are correct bud! The Viper clutching was horrible....even on the prototypes and I wanted to see what they had in there. When I looked and saw the weights I was like "this is not going to work". When I took the dealers out on the Prototypes in 2013, everyone was saying they couldn't get past 90mph. I noticed it also....but I only let them open it up for a short distance on the wide open trail.
In Munising when I had 3 people come to me in one day asking for secondary springs as they knew I had a slew of them....but was like "why are they breaking?" I looked inside the coils and found the paint was gone.
Definitely going to do more testing with a roller setup this year on the Viper.
