Well I finally got a chance to ride my new 04 Warrior and I must say I'm quite impressed with it. My wife rode 2 up with me and it handled sooo much better riding 2 up than my Viper did. I noticed that the belt on the sled is worn out, it rides almost 3/16 " low in the secondary. I have a new spare I picked up, but I didn't want to break it in with the wet heavy snow we had yesterday plus riding 2 up. I was amazed how well it went with a worn out belt. It ought to be really impressive with a good belt. LOL. It rode pretty good for a Pro Action rear suspension, the extra length helps for sure. I only noticed a small problem with it. It starts great when its cold, but when its hot it doesn't start very good, with or without some throttle. And when its hot the idle is a lot higher to. When it cool after a start up it'll idle nice around 1600 rpm, but when its hot it idles around 2500 rpm. Other than the hot start and idle it runs great. Not sure if this is a carb issue or a air leak somewhere. I pulled a plug and its a light color. The dealer I got it from said they cleaned the carbs. Its strange it only acts this way when its hot. This must be a minor problem. I'm here to stay on the 4 stroke side, I wont be smelling like 2 stroke smoke anymore.LOL

My warrior does the same thing, on a cold start after choke it idles around 1400rpm, then when hot it doesn't wanna start unless you roll on the throttle , sorta embarrassing when out with a group, cause it rolls over more than most.
When its warmed up it ides around 1800-1900rpm. I've asked before on this forum and was advised that this is common with the carbed models.

How much throttle do you give it ? I started turning the engine over and then I gradually pushed the throttle in till it started. Is there a better way ? Its surprising that it would be normal, but if it is I guess its not a big deal. If there's something wrong I would like to take care of it though.

not much throttle at all really, but it doesn't seem to wanna start unless I do it.

Mine also when warmed up needs about 1/8" of throttle to start up. Just the way it is with all those carbs I guess.

Well I went for a ride today by myself and I must say I'm really impressed with this machine. For as heavy and long the Warrior is, it really handles quite well. We have a lot of twisty trails where I live and I had no problems going the same speed as I usually went with my Viper. I put my new belt on and that really helped, it went much easier. I still cant believe how good it went yesterday with a worn out belt. Also before I left I noticed the end of the choke cable was twisted a little in the arm for the choke. I straightened it to sit the way its supposed to and then I turned the idle down from 1600 to about 1400 and now it seems to idle down nice every time when I stop, even when its hot. I'm really glad I got a 4 stroke, the more I ride it, the more I like it !!

You might want to have the carbs synchronized.

I just tap the throttle once as soon as the engine begins to crank and vavoom....

You could install a shutoff on the line that feeds coolant to the carbs. This will allow you to shut the coolant off on warmer days which will make it easier to start when warm but you will still have to give it a little throttle.

I hadn't even looked for a shut off for the carb coolant. I'm surprised it doesn't have one like all the 2 strokes did. That's not a bad idea. The day that it bothered was warm, it was almost 40 out.

Do these sleds need to have this done very often? The reason I ask is I'm not sure about buying the tool that seems to be expensive if I'm only going to use it once. Maybe I'd be better having the dealer do it. If this is something that has to be done on a regular basis then it would be worth getting it. What brand or type of carb sync tool do you recommend ? I've seen some with liquid and some that are gauges. And will the 5mm adapters that come with most of them work or do I need the 6mm ones? Thanx

Just build one! A couple bucks worth of clear plastic tubing, a T fitting, and some auto trans fluid.

Do you have a pic of this ? Or is there a link on how to make one ? Do I need one that will do all 4 carbs at the same time ? Sorry for all the questions, but I've never done this before. I've cleaned many carbs, but I've never done this vacuum sync test before.
