First ride

Been reading up in the snowtrackers and the one thing that comes to my mind is how will the arctic cat ski with snowtrackers handle in the powder snow when I travel off trail. Normally I spend half of my time off trail. Last year I did more trail riding but it's not the norm.

Sorry for all the questions and bothering everyone, I'd just like to try and get it right the first time so I don't end up emptying my bank account lol.
The Snowtrackers handle like any other carbide in powder, ie you really don't notice them one way or the other. If you are doing a lot of off-trail, you probably won't want your dealer's "take off" skis, unless they came off a "high country" or other 141" Cat skid. The skis are wider than the normal Cat trail skis, and have "nubs" along the top of the skis. You can buy the rubbers and handles to match your sled online; I just bought the Cat rubbers online and they were @ $10 apiece. Cat makes handles in all the Cat colors, but also in black or white, either of which would go well with your red Viper for @ $17 apiece.

I must admit looking st the snowtrackers they look like a sales gimmick but I've read enough positive reviews along with the referrals from you guys that I do believe that they do work. Still haven't wrapped my head around how they turn easy though with all the ski pressure on 3 narrow points though lol.

I believe they are the wider skis. Believe he said they are 6.5 inches wide. I didn't look to see if they had the little nubs on them though as I didn't know about that at the time.

Once again I appreciate everyone's feedback.

It sounds like they are the wider Cat skis. There are better off trail skis out there; I like SLP Mohawks, but they are basically twice the price of the Cat ski. For the money, particularly if you are getting a used pair at a good price, add a pair of Snowtrackers, and you should be pretty happy with them.

I ordered the spring tonight from Bill Mohr hopefully it's step in the right direction. Not sure what I'll do for skis yet. Kind of going one step at a time and see where I end up.

Looking at storage bags for the rear too now. One of my local dealers has the big combination trunk bag that I can have at a pretty good discount. 260 dollars for it. I would like to be able to carry some gas though too and the only way I can do it with that bag is if I make my own rear rack that sits over the rear taillight and up to the rear of the bag. I've read cases where people have bent the tunnels too so I'm a little leery of putting to much weight back there as well. I like the up north technologies set up but man that's a lot of money to pay for a piece of aluminum. The the linq bags and gas can, before you know it there's almost a thousand bucks gone lol. Local dealer also has one of those plastic Yamaha modular base racks that Yamaha discontinued pretty reasonable. It seems a little junky though in a way. Affraid if I tied a gas can to the rack it may break in the cold weather.

Put a rotopak in the bag. Lot of room left.

I had seen the posts where people had put the rotopax fuel jugs in the back of the expandable trunk I don't know if there's enough room for sure in the combination trunk though, anyone able to confirm for sure?

This is a pic of the one I'm looking at on the back of a sidewinder mtx.

Looks totally big enough to me. I think you could easily fit a 1.75 gal or larger in that. Just get dimension of the can first and see how large you can afford to go.

This is a better pic I found of it installed on a sidewinder xtx. I'll have to do some digging tonight and see what I can find for measurements of the different sized cans and maybe make a trip into town and actually measure the bag. I have the mountain seat on mine so it may sit a little differently they list it as fitting the mtx though as well so it shouldn't be a problem Nice enough of a bag otherwise I thought.
