Talking with Kevin from Port and several other friends in the business it seems we should all seriously consider using gorilla shafts on our Grizz's if we install larger (mud style) tires. I know Mr.Sleds brother is in the ATV repair bus and sees alot of problems with the stock shafts. As does Port and Donahues. Yamaha knows theres a problem with the 03's and is replacing them under warranty (if you still have one) . There are also some problems with some 04's. I am of the opinion that if you go with a 26" or larger mudding tire you should strongly consider Gorilla shafts. From what I have seen and from the people I have talked to, its basically a matter of time before you have a shaft/cv problem. Now the bad part is they are not cheap. Id like to try to put a group buy together and order a bunch of shafts. As soon as we get some more users here and have interest, ill persue getting us a group pricing deal on the shafts...BBY
 

I read in another forum that the 03 problems lie with a cv shaft of larger diameter. 22-23mm. The virtual trouble free shaft of the 04 is 17-18mm. The larger shaft of the two is actually the weaker one. I realize that no shaft is indestructable but I'am going to measure mine for a little piece of mind.

I heard the pricing is "Super-Duty" which is about the same as saying "not cheap".

I look at my stock Grizzly now and already hear cash register noises. :|
 
The smaller shafts are able to wind up more than the larger ones before they snap. Every driveshaft or axle shaft ever built in this world needs to be able to wind up(twist) or they would just break. I wonder if Yamaha has finally figured out the proper combination of strength and torsional rigidity? :o|
