i posted this on the general phazer thred with no replys so ill try you MTN guys. I'm in the development stages with my turbo phazer project. just wanted to see what feed back you that have forced induction sleds could offer. im no stranger to boosted things (turbo sentra, my STI and my vortech superchared 454 boat). Im starting out on low boost (4-5 PIS) with at smaller GT series turbo from garrett and a tial external wastegate. im looking to see what style turbos you guys run, boost levels, what ecus or piggyback systems ect.. any info or opinions are welcome! Thanks a lot!

Check out my phazer build thread for some pics and such if you want. I first turboed my phazer with the mcx turbo kit which uses a small mitsubishi turbo and I think the garret gt1548 would be a good choice for this engine. What turbo are you planning on using. You should run higher than 4-5 lbs to make it worth it. I ran 10 lbs on the stock engine with no headshim and av gas. After talking with some engine builders and turbo guys I wouldn't hesitate to run that same setup on 50/50 prem/av. What are you planning on running for fuel management/tuning.

GT1548 was my choice. I'm going to make a fuel rail and use an areomotive 1:1 fpr with a walbro pump. Ecu is still in the review/ feedback stages. Maybe microsquirt or powercomander with the map add on. What oil return pump does the mcx kit use?

The mcx kit doesn't use a pump for the oil return, you simply route the return line as low as possible. Are you going to run larger injectors or additional injectors in the plenum?

I'm going to do some calculating but stocks for now. Do you happen to know the lbs per hour of stock injectors? When you run on an incline doesnt that create some smoke issues? Good to know it doesn't use one. I'll be primarily on trails with no serious inclines so that saved me $300 !

I don't know the lbs per hour on the stickers but if you find out I would be interested to know. The mcx kit does smoke alot if you get stuck on a good incline. Are you going front mount with this?

Yes on the front mount. The GT1548 flows aprox 23 lbs an hour so I need aprox a 330 cfm intercooler. I may send the stock Injectors out to RCeng.com and have them flow tested. I think an oil pump would keep the smoke from happening.

With a front mount setup I personally wouldn't even bother with a oil pump. The mcx kit return line goes to the mag side center plug that allows access to the flywheel bolt. With a front mount this would make your return line almost vertical.

Have you thought about doing a rear mount setup? with a front mount, i know the boondocker removes the oil container and relocates it. I checked out there new design on the turbo setups for 2010 and they are building stand alone oil units-BRILLIANT- i thought. I am in the process of designing my turbo kit as well and i plan on doing a rear mount with a stand alone oil box and I am also considering mounting an intercooler in the back as well. Also with extra injectors- I dont think BDs run extra injectors(I could be wrong, but while e-mailing them and looking at thier kits, i havent seen any), but you can buy a control box from them still, they ran about 10lbs with race fuel and said it worked good. no head shim-to laggy
