So my brother and I are putting on new tracks on our Nytros and we discover that the the bolt that hold the lower gear assembly on is snapped off and rolling around in the chain case cover behind the outer bearing. The rest of the bolt is still in the driver axel. What is up with this? Anyone seen this before?

most common problem on the nytro almost lol, there is updates for it, new bolt or bolt and spacer.

Leave the broken bolt in there and re assemble without. Or use an easy out to take the broken bolt out and get the new updated bolt. My 08 broke 2 before I finally took 1/16th off the end. My 10 has not broken it yet. 2500km on it. Lots of guys running without the bolt.

Mine was the same way I left it in there, no telling how many of the 2800 miles on my sled that it was that way. There are guys on here that have over 5k running with it broken off. Run it.

I don't know how you could ever get that thing back together without the bolt. I can't imagine what a pain that would be.

The broken bolt comes out really easily using an easy-out.

Agree with all of the above.
The only guys that don't have this problem are the guys that haven't opened up their chaincase yet.

Unless you guys are putting the bolts in with spacers you'll see this problem again.

Well, I tried to put mine back together without the bolt, and couldn't do it. My hat's off to you. It's just too bad I can't give you a call for some help with reassembly when I run into trouble. :-o

There is a tool called " Patience " hard to find at my place but works well. You just have to get the reverse fork in place and all will feel right. And you don't have to worry about spacers and bolts doing a dance in your chain-case. There are many on this site willing to help.

I just changed my fluid but didnt takr the chain case cover off. Sled has 1700 miles.. Is that going to tear something up if i leave it the way it is???

Anybody with a 2010 have this issue?
Bolt is broke on my apex and still have to fix it. A bit of JB weld should fix the hole in chain case cover.
