My only concern with a float in the rear of a "trail" sled; the surface of the shock body getting damaged. After looking at my mono and knowing the abrasive environment that is under the tunnel. At the least I think I would use a length of bike tube a a sock. Just use the crimp clamps on each end, maybe spray a bit of lube in there. The tube should be able to handle the expansion and contraction as the shock cycles.
Cat has been putting a float in the rear for years and many aftermarket skids with no problems.

Yeah I know but how much "TRAIL" usage do they really get? I mean I've run stuff you would normally run an ATV in. As I said, I wouldn't hesitate on the Float, just like to protect things, it seems that for what ever reason I "age" my machines three times as fast.
