does anybody know a contact at yamaha canada in quebec?
HELP :die

That's what i feared they would tell you -- that if the shock body had any chips, scrapes, etc. that they wouldn't cover it.

It can be fixed if you want to send the shock in. But in the mean while you are going to need a shock to use. Any shock that's ever been used in the Mono will fit.

Or else just order a new one from Yamaha. Part # is SMA-MEGAF-FS-00. Or call Port Yamaha and see if they still have the Mega's on sale. At on time they were $550 at Port.

I got a ohlins sitting in the shed collecting dust it has the big boy spring on it but still soft. If you wanted to borrow it I would send it to you.

This is the 2nd mega float I have heard with 'rock chips' ruining them.

I feel your pain yamaha and most manufactures will deny deny deny until you just about had it.

Better yet have the dealer give you a shock to use while you get parts for the mega.

How many miles?

Thing is the seal for the air is internal. It is not the wiper you see on outside of the sleeve for air.It is on the shaft sealhead.Nicks on the main body can just be filed off so the bushing doesnt bind.So any nick that affected it holding air pressure would have to be big enough to distort the inside of the sleeve which air is in.It just doesnt make sense for nicks to cause air leakage.

X2 & why I'm not a air shock user. Not sold on air shocks yet.

Here is where air is sealed.

Looking at that pic, I'd guess the Air seal moves against the inside of the upper tube. Is the upper tube double walled?

Thats right. No its not double walled on floats I have seen but a nick on the outside of sleeve doesnt make a sharp protrusion on the inside unless its a heck of a dent. The seal can still conform to a smooth protrusion. As long as its not cut.Its just odd that its so rare to see air leak on the floats that have been around for almost 10 years now. Most of the time the source of air leak on these is the schrader valve itself. Not seals.Shocks do take a beating in our skids from debris but think of all the MX quads and front sled shocks that get hit with roost all the time.Even with guards they still get all beat up and rarely leak air.Hope it just a defect or something Fox can figure out.Dont give up Homeplaya.

That's what Carver told me also, if their leaking air, it's most likely from where you add the air with the pump.

But they can leak air also if the shock body gets damaged.

They don't fail often, but there are no perfect mouse traps.

I hope you can get something in there in the mean while and keep riding Homeplaya!!!!!

most air leaks I have seen are from the schrader valve going bad. Any schrader valve will fit to see if that is the leak source, and a busy tire shop may give you one free of charge.
