Has anyone ever studded this track? I love the track, but have come to the decision that I must stud.

Why do you think you must stud? Most of the guys running the freeride on this forum don't bother.

Why must you have studs?

I think you are just asking for trouble if you try and stud this track. Does anyone make studs long enough to work on a 1.5"? If so, IMO you are going to have issues with tearing the studs out and bending them over because of the stud length.

when you go that long of stud you HAVE to use the extra long nuts or your wasting your time and will just destroy the studs

So, did you end up studding? When my current track gets clapped out I am thinking of the 1.5 Freeride. Ride mostly groomed trails but also some single track in deeper conditions.

I have a studded 2 inch track and it works well. Sure you need the proper nuts and backers, but dont let anyone scare you, it can be done with good results.

I had the Freeride 1.5 studded and it worked incredible with no issues. Did some of the tips break? Yes. Did some of the studs bend? Of coarse. I've never owned a studded sled in which this didn't happen. Nature of the beast. Did any of the studs rip out or tear track? No. The most important thing (again, as with any studded track) is to re-tighten the studs after the first few rides and then to periodically inspect and replace/ re-tighten if need be. And as Pockets said, the extra long nuts are required.

Go ahead and stud it did my 136 right out of the box. Just leave about a 1 1/2 in the center . This prevents stud heads from hitting center shock.
