Hey there all!
I just bought my sled three weeks ago and when I got home I noticed that the tunnel was wide open. It had previously had the metal sheet to cover up the hole but was now gone. So I searched about it and I made a mistake. I was under the impression that the Yamaha tunnel closing kit included a sheet of metal of the front hole aswell.
Anyhow I had already closed off both holes when I read that the kit only included a sheet for the back.
I have removed the rubber flaps under the tank to allow more hot air to escape through ventilation, I also trimmed off the aluminium that was under the seat frame. My fibre shield that goes over the flex joint was in a thousand pieces, so I bought one of theese and put it over instead of the fibre shield: https://www.biltema.se/bil---mc/tuning/avgasror/varmeskold-2000022291
I then used header wrapping from the flex joints and covered maybe 30CM so I stopped somewhere outside of the tank. Im worried it will get too hot even with my precautions. So Im looking for a bit of a guidance! I also put some of the heat material over the plate that goes over the exhaust.

I was thinking that maybe I could put a thermometer under the tank and see how hot it gets?
I know I put the heat shielding upside down, but maybe that doesnt matter? =D

I truly dont believe you will have a problem. @cannondale27 ran a Phazer for a long time and maybe he will step in.

I used the same type of sheet heat shielding on mine that was stick-on and used some rivets to keep it in place. However, I left the front hole open. Haven't seen or heard of anybody blocking off the front hole, even on Venture Lite/MP with tunnel icing problems. The exhaust gets really hot on these sleds and having red hot pipes under a gas tank is not a good idea. I would leave that hole open.
The rear hole was blocked off to stop snow accumulation

I've read quite a few posts saying they closed the front hole as well. Maybe I'll try putting a thermometer under the tank and see how hot it gets.
Yes I have had front and back closed for years now. No issues.

Did you add any insulation to combat the heat from the exhaust?Yes I have had front and back closed for years now. No issues.
No. Just did like you and cut the rubber off the upper shield to get more airflow.Did you add any insulation to combat the heat from the exhaust?
