Sorry for the repost but I didn't get any hits on this in the main Apex forum.

I'm putting a rev fuel tank on my apex this year - I know a lot of you guys use an external fuel pump, any guide on how to set one up?

I was thinking of getting an MSD 2225, plumbing it into the rev tank, and then connecting the power to whatever wires powered the old yamaha in-tank pump.

Do I need to do anything special with the wiring? Do I need to worry about the extra fuel pressure/flow, or will this get regulated automatically?

BTW, this is a non-boosted sled, so i'm not looking for extra fuel flow, I just want to swap tanks.

Thanks,
Mark

You can also go with an external Walbro Fuel Pump (GSL-392.........255LPH /20 amp.); very small size and low cost. With an atmospheric project no FPR mod is necessary.

I run a REV tank on my sled, I use a Bosch inline fuelpump. The fuel outlet on the REV tank sits low at the front of the tank gravityfeeding the fuel to the pump. No Fuel Pressure Regulator needed, the one you already have in the fuel rail will do the job.

rxrider I read through most of your build thread, sounds like an awesome sled.

Did you have any issues with the rev tank tank pickup being in the front when going uphill? It sounded like you were working on some sort of solution to that in your sled.

I would think doo riders would have the same problem.

Same tank/pump setup on apex mtn turbo work correctly.

My only grief... is going downhill in VERY STEEP (going down a chute for example) sled stalls because the rev tank pickups look like they are at rear of tank.....

In fact if you read my post (up) its the opposite, fuel exit at front, but pickup look like its being at rear.

lift rear of sled high enough, it will only suck air and stall.

lift front end, no problem

It's only when the tank is close to empty I have a problem, do not go vertical with less than a few gallons left in the tank. It's more of a problem in a EFI sled compared to a carbed one, the carb sled have a bit of fuel to feed on in the float bowls. But it's scary when you're up steep and power starts to fade.... turn around asap :)

Yeah I've been thinking of a secondary fuel tank up front.... it's all I've done so far... thinking about it, an idea came to mind
make a stiff fuel tube going back inside the tank, make a joint and add a shorter tube with the filter in the end of it. When going vertical the second tube and filter will hang down ending up at the far rear of the tank. Going downhill the short tube will swing forvard to the front end of the tank.... just a thought gotta measure the tank and start drawing.... hmmmmm it's a plausible solution

Yeah why not :) but why not invent something else LOL typically me and my friend to fabricate our own stuff
